Historically, we've tried to make minor changes to the course at midday, so that the course we run in the afternoon is slightly different than the one we ran in the morning. The thinking behind this is to introduce a bit of variety and additional challenge from having to adapt to the changes.
While planning for this Saturday's event, it was pointed out that, because we're generally not able to re-walk the course, we're necessarily limited to making relatively small changes midday. This means that the morning and afternoon courses end up being fundamentally similar -- we're not really providing an experience analogous to a SCCA Championship Tour or SCCA Nationals, which feature very different and totally different courses, respectively.
Each person in the discussion had their own views and preferences, but collectively we realized that we didn't have a good idea of what the rest of the club prefers, thus this poll.
What do you all prefer? Identical courses in the morning or afternoon, or slightly different ones?

I was cruising Kijiji and came across this low-mileage 2006 Civic Si for $4,500. It looks really clean in the photo, but there's just the one. If it is in good shape, someone should scoop it up -- consensus is that that generation Civic is still competitive in HS. https://www.kijiji.ca/v-view-details.html?adId=1404854432The ad lists an automatic transmission, but as far as I'm aware that year Si was only available with a manual. I have no affiliation with the seller at all -- just want to see the car go to an autocrosser if it's as good a deal as it appears to be.

Hi all,
The site acquisition team would like to talk to someone in CP Rail about using one of their facilities, but we don't have a contact there. Long shot, but do any of you know anyone who works in CP Rail's facilities team, ideally someone with some decision-making authority?
If so, please send me a private message.
Thanks! Steve

Enough of you drive to the Montana border to pick up car parts that we have a sticky thread on the topic. I'd been seeing ads for "DYK Post", but they looked a bit sketchy, so I ignored them. Joe told me he'd used them, so I gave them a shot for a set of four 18" wheels that I had shipped from the States. Their total cost to get the wheels (not light at ~100 lbs. / 50 kg) to their shop in Calgary was $97 CAD -- way cheaper than any other quotes I got, and less than I would have paid for gas to drive to Montana and back, let alone the hassle and time commitment. As far as I can tell, their deal is that they partner with a warehouse in Sweet Grass, and have a truck that does laps of an Edmonton-Calgary-Lethbridge-Sweet Grass circuit twice a week. They take packages to their Calgary shop in Marlborough, a block from Cam's shop. I have no affiliation with the company -- I'm just a very satisfied customer. https://www2.dykpost.com/canada-bound-shipping/

Looking for a 305/30R19 to test fit to see if it'll fit under a fender. I'd be happy to buy you a six-pack if you let me dismount it, test fit it, then remount it. Alternately, if you have a used up tire, I could take it off of your hands and spare you the time and expense of disposing of it.

Last I heard there was a chance we'd still be able to use the lot. The long-term forecast looks very promising -- 8 degrees in Thursday, 9 on Friday, and 12 on Saturday.
So what's the word? Is the event happening, or are we done for the year?

As mentioned in another thread, this year will be the last year we'll have access to the YYC lot. The club executive has efforts underway to identify and secure alternative sites, but I figured it would also be helpful to start a thread soliciting suggestions. Seen an appropriately sized and lightly occupied lot on your travels? Post it here. PLEASE NOTE: DO NOT APPROACH ANY SITES YOURSELF. We want to approach sites in an organized, professional, and consistent manner, since we'll likely only have one shot at convincing any given location. Some sites that have already been suggested (so no need to repeat them): - McMahon Stadium
- Bieseker Airport
- Every other airport within 250 km of Calgary
- North Hill Centre Sears
- Max Bell Arena

Currently, in order to contend for our season-end points championship, you need to attend a minimum of two events at each venue: YYC and Fort Macleod. I'm curious about if/how attendance at Fort Macleod events would change if the two-event requirement was waived. I included an option for "I would attend more Fort Macleod events if the requirement was removed". If you're wondering why this might be the case -- if you're deadly serious about the season championship, and fewer people attended Fort Macleod events, it would follow that there would be some easy points on offer for anyone who continued to go to the events even though it was no longer required.

Hi all,
We didn't have a single person volunteer to work registration on Saturday. Registration's a cushy work assignment -- you just need to sit in the hut and check people in on the laptop. There are three people assigned to registration at each event, so that they can take turns working while the other two prep their cars and walk the course.
Sometimes, if we're short on workers, the people who work registration are also given a regular work assignment. When this happens, they get easy / non-running work assignments like timing, sound, or starter.
The only catch is that you have to get to the site a bit earlier. One of the registration workers needs to be on site at 7:30 when the gate opens; you can work out which one with the other registration workers.
Anyone willing to volunteer? If so, respond here, or better, email me at [my first name][my last name]@live.com, without any spaces, periods, or the square brackets, of course. (My name's at the bottom of this post.)
Thanks! Steve
