SASC Events / Course Map for Sunday, April 22nd
« on: April 19, 2018, 11:04:23 AM »
Registration closes @ 7pm tonight, link to sign up is here:

https://www.motorsportreg.com/events/sasc-yyc-practice-novice-school-old-park-n-jet-southern-alberta-solosport-club-109084

In the AM we will have two courses: 1. An un-timed, novice course on the West Side of the lot, Reijo & Tim (and perhaps others) will be helping instruct here 2. The main practice/test-n-tune course, we will most likely split into 2 run groups here, course will have timing.

In the PM the two courses will be combined into one large course.

Reijo has designed the courses, link is here:

Could definitely use some help setting up on Saturday if you can:

I drove by the lot very early this morning when our flight got in and I'd say about 75% of the snow is gone. Seems like the majority of the snow is just stuck around the perimeter (it was pitch black though).

At the meeting today it was decided to push the first event back one week to Sunday, April 22nd due to snow still on the ground at the venue.

If you were already registered for April 15th you're automatically signed up for April 22nd.

and how does Registration handle the cashless transaction?  We have no WiFi at the airport, and I don't have a smart 'phone.

Jo, those that pay via e-transfer will need to show a screenshot or printout of their confirmation of e-transfer payment.

Should we officially postpone the first practice now, since there's now an additional 10-15 cm of snow on the lot?

And 5-10cm more snow in the forecast for Thursday  :-[

Building access and clearing snow is something I oversee at work for our sites, if we had a rubber tired front end loader to clear this entire site (grid, pits, tech area, course) I would expect the costs to be in the neighborhood of 2 grand all in. The hauling in and out of equipment would be a big chunk of this cost. I think that makes it a bit cost prohibitive.

Another potential option would be to push the first event by a week to April 22nd, an extra week of above 0 temperatures would really help (the 14 day trend looks good starting April 9th).

I was in the area today so I snapped a few pictures of the lot, there needs to be a lot of melting if we're going to have an event in 13 days  :-[

Technical Talk / Re: Interpretation of ST Class Rule
« on: March 27, 2018, 03:56:57 PM »
Thanks for the input guys.

So If I were to run a piggy back (JB4 for example), is it acceptable if i switch to OEM tune for the event?
This means all parameters would be OEM during the race event.
Would Tech Officials find this acceptable?

Map 0 on the JB1/JB4 is full pass-through aka the piggy back is doing nothing, should be fine for local events, at larger US events it may raise some eyebrows.

The way I read it is, the parameters that may be adjusted are without restriction (i.e. boost, ignition timing, rev limiter, cam phasing etc.) however the method on 2006+ vehicles must be a flash tune aka no piggy back (i.e. JB1 or JB4 for your Golf R)

Placement visibility and continuity between vehicles, along this year’s helmet tech sticker placement continuity,  are necessary for easy grid and start worker verification during events.

Exactly, the grid folks and starter need to be able to easily see the tech sticker.

BTW -- is the SASC helmet sticker designed to not interfere with SCCA bar code and helmet tech placements?

Where it goes on the helmet is up to you, so long as the grid folks and starter can easily see it.
