I am new to SASC and want to know if you need to compete in a novice school before I compete in a Solo Event.  I have a number from the club, but is that your car # also or will get one of the numbers I chose when I signed up for the club?

Welcome!

I'd highly recommend attending a novice school if there's one being hosted, but it's not mandatory by any means. It's a great chance to learn, and you usually get a lot of seat time.

I believe your member number is different from your car number. I cant remember the exact rules for this year, but they were mentioned at the last drivers meeting on Sunday. They are something along the lines of:

1-199 are reserved for SASC members
200-699 are free reign
700-999 is for novices (Easy for marshalls and organizers to spot you so we can provide ride alongs, and watch/help you develop)

Taking a novice school first is not a requirement.  Even if your first time is at a regular event, we will be sure to help as much as we can.

There is a novice school this Saturday at Fort Macleod ... we have a great layout there for it.

You will have to sign up before Thursday evening - I think that is the cutoff right?
