I know this to be true, but the general population apparently does not believe it.   I think it is important for the general population to hear this every event from the event chair.  I am sorry to report that I heard much more about this issue at this past Sundays event than I ever expected from our group.  Its a growing problem apparently and I firmly believe we need to address it publicly for at least 1 event to ensure it doesn't get out of hand.

If anything needs to be explained, it might be that some of our regular members have failed in the past, and taken measures or made modification to allow them to pass.

Springs and bars are legal. TRD wheels, short shifter and airbox are not.

Hi Dan,

I wasn't aware of that difference between Canadian models and American ones. Yes you can install the TRD springs and sway bars. They were a port option for our cars anyways.

You also mentioned to me on Sunday that you weren't in street class because of camber bolts. Aftermarket camber bolts are indeed illegal, but Toyota does have a crash bolt that offers marginally more camber that is legal for the class.

We are hopeful, but as this lot is not yet officially locked down, I'm going to lock this post before speculation gets out of hand, or other events conspire to compromise the possible agreement. I trust that the executive will get the job done for us so that and we can enjoy in the future.

Some say there are many ways to handle a steering wheel.  I found as I progressed over the years, I gradually began to shuffle steer more and more such that I currently almost exclusively do it:  I find it "more comfortable" to have my hands at 3 and 9 when going around a corner.  However in a quick transition or corner I have some times found I do not have enough time to move my hands so then I use some other technique and even hand over hand .... or pre-position my hands prior to entering the corner ... anticipating the corner (I still find that difficult to remember to do ... an on-going work you might say).

However, I also remember, many, many years ago, riding along with someone (do not recall who it was) and they were shuffle steering but very, very poorly in that the car literally jerked every single time they moved their hands.  In all fairness I believe they were trying to learn how to do it I would imagine.  Nevertheless I remember how jerky it was ... not very smooth.  Ideally you should not be able to feel when the hands are moved ... no jerkiness whatsoever.

It is something you can practice on the street and hence get used to it.  That is how I drive on a daily basis.

:)

I think I would have said something very similar.  I'm sure that I still haven't mastered it, and am jerky on occasion... but the thought of crossing over now gives me the willies.

Always wanted to take the Extreme school, I've taken comp more times than I can count (but still learn lots every time I go). However for me personally committing to 2 days is a bit difficult, if Extreme was a 1 day I'd take it, if not, comp.

I'm a bit (ok, a lot) late to the party, but for the record I'm in the same boat as Tom -- I'd love to take an Extreme school, but can't justify two days away from home for it. Any chance you could do another "Comp Plus" school this year?

+1
