Ice Racing taught me more about weight transfer than any other form of motorsport I've been involved in.

Thanks for the answers guys, that clarifies things. The Spec FRS is tempting, anyone local considering running one?
well, I'm leaving town for next season but I'm still keen. I may even be able to build one cheap while I'm working in the US

No oil cooler :(

... but Q gets to keep his exhaust.

Other Stuff For Sale / WTB: AutoX contacts in LA
« on: September 27, 2017, 07:33:30 AM »
Hi everyone,

I'm on the move for work and I'll be in Long Beach in a few weeks on a 6-12 month contract. I'm thinking I'm going to end up with a lot of spare time on weekends and rather than sit on the beach staring at the ocean feeling homesick I could be standing on hot asphalt sucking exhaust fumes, sweating my balls off, feeling homesick but less so.

I'd appreciate if anyone who knows my personality could recommend a local AutoX'er or club I could get into contact with. I'm hoping to make friends, get some rides, maybe even a co-drive now and again if I'm lucky/worthy.

Cheers,

Shane

PM me the Mazda forum install link please? I've done enough sway bars in my time to know what I'm doing, but I'd like to see the specifics.

Cheers

RE71R's on separate rims are definitely in my plans for next season.  I wanted to hear about the FSD's as it was a little confusing in my head, thank you for clearing that up, as well with the rear suspension.  Top of my list for next season is seat time seat time seat time :) want to spend as much time behind the wheel as I can.  The Koni yellows will be a bonus next season if I can afford it.  My swaybar and endlinks have arrived, just scrounging the last few dollars to go have them installed.  Hopefully the weather co-operates and I can make the final Oct 15th event with my new swaybar.  That will probably be all the tread I have left anyway, then its onto studded winters and looking towards Ghost Lake :)

A big thank you again to everyone here for the help/advice/info, I greatly appreciate the support it means alot to have that 8)
If the sway bar is anything like my Focus I can do it for beer. And teach you how to wrench on your own car for nothing.

Similar, but different.

I assume that is base warranty of 3 years (not the 6 with mine) and no prepaid maintenance (free 'the works' maintenance twice a year for six years from purchase, with replacement on wear items like shocks and clutch). Ceramic coating is also $1,000+ beyond putting on film alone. His lower mileage is also 2,000km lower than mine, which isn't much in the scheme of things.

He also says he can't afford to keep it, whereas I'm not pressured to sell any time soon.
Rational/reasonable clarification. Hopefully that helps your sale.

Not to rain on your parade, but a similar lower km vehicle is advertised on Kijiji for $45k:

The car really wants an oil cooler in hotter climates even for solo... and for HPDE even in our climate. I think they should have added an option for an oil cooler.

I'm excited and expecting to participate.
Absolutely, this is a valid concern and possibly worth mentioning to SCCA?

I'm also excite.

Yeah, I kinda heard that as "specifically valved for the BRZ/FR-S" as if he was talking up the standard Koni Sport for the camera. I'd be pretty dark if a spec car was built with one-off components only available from TireRack.

41
Proposed kit components priced out in USD, no shipping (wheels & tires not yet included):

Koni Sport Shocks, factory sealed (front left strut, right front strut and rear) $824
Eibach Pro-Plus Kit (F/R springs and F/R adjustable anti-roll bars) $700
SPC Front Alignment Kit (camber bolts, adjustable lower control arms and toe arms) $23 + $230 + $189

Total: $1966 USD without any real effort shopping around. The SCCA/Tire Rack deal requires you to have SCCA membership, so factor that in as well.

We can probably get a vendor here in Canada to hook us up with these products at a bulk cost if we have a lot of interest - I'm sure there's plenty of competition who wants our business. Or with some real hard googling skills and free US shipping to Montana we could save some big bucks.
