I drove over to the ex-DeVry lot (now Altalink) to check it out today.  There is a pretty steep slope from one corner to the other and way more cement islands than I am comfortable with.  I think we have to rule that lot out.

I also drove by the Crossroads Furniture Market - that place is still in operation and is open Sundays.  I mean maybe we could convince them to use only a corner of the lot for customer parking but without some way of convincing them to do this I think that using this lot is exceedingly unlikely.

Any updates on the park & jet location?

I hereby surrender my part in checking out Park&Jet. Ive got too much going on and I can't find the time to get over there.

I have an insane idea.

According to the website for the community next to the Fort MacLeod airport, there's a 4.3 acre lot next to the runway for sale, complete with a paved taxiway to the runway. It's Lot 32 here: http://www.macleodairfield.ca/content/map.htm.

Here it is on a map:

We probably couldn't run cars on the lot (even if we paved it, I imagine the neighbors would have fits), but even if we just used it as our paddock / parking area, that would allow us to extend our course into the area we currently use for parking. If we wanted to push our luck, we could try incorporating the supposedly paved taxiway into courses as well.

I can't find a listing showing the asking price, but it can't hurt to ask, can it? :)

Back in 2011 when we hosted the Cdn. Nats. we used that runway for site access ... the lawyer owned the red roofed house just to the north of it.  The pavement is WWII era pavement and unuseable.

Now if we all buy up properties in there we might have something!   ;)

Gee, that would be almost like having Badlands built ... another season hopefully.

We can always park on the far end of the runway if we wanted to use the grid/pit area for part of the course as well.

Although I don't think you can do much with it, the pit area has that snarly cable running through it and the grid area would only really accommodate a small turn around.

Might open up some options if we can get permission to get rid of that cable, I am not sure what it is there for in the first place

That's an airplane tiedown, no chance they would get rid of it.

Wonder if we should formally resurrect this discussion of finding a few people between SASC and CSCC to work on securing a local venue?  Interest was high initially then went quiet for a month.  Club meetings are coming up in a week or two.

The Target lot - a.k.a. Eleven Points Logistics, a.k.a. Sobeys' new distribution center?
Gary from Corvettes Unlimited was relentless in pursuing this lot and unfortunately after all of his hard work (seriously, he was after them for weeks!) they declined.

It sounds like the park & jet lot may still be worth at least driving by and checking out - any other venues from the lists posted here sound interesting?
