« on: June 21, 2016, 10:55:59 AM »
There are a number of class changes, event procedures (re:  re-runs procedure etc.), rules changes that merit your attention.  I would suggest reading this one over for everyone:

A friend of mine is selling his original 2000 AP1 S2000 wheels with Toyo RA-1 tires on them ... a few years old but used only a few times and stored in his basement.

Let me know if interested and I'll give you contact info.

For Immediate Release:

Registration Nearing for Out of This World 2016 Tire Rack Solo Nationals

TOPEKA, Kan. (June 8, 2016) – It's that time again. The September 5-9 Tire Rack Solo Nationals, presented by Garmin VIRB, are rapidly approaching. As such, registration for the year-end competition and party will open to everyone Wednesday, June 15 at 3pm Central Time on the Tire Rack Solo Nationals webpage.

Registration for this year's event will be $170 per entrant, with the event capped at 1,350 participants. Keeping in mind that the 2015 Tire Rack Solo Nationals welcomed more than 1,225 contestants, interested parties should not dally when it comes to reserving a spot at this well-attended competition. August 10 is when late fees will begin to be assessed for those registering for the event. Howard Duncan, SCCA Senior Director of Solo and Rally, said the late registration price is $300 per entry.

"This will be the 44th running of the Tire Rack Solo Nationals," Duncan said. "This year's theme will be 'Cone Encounters.' What does this sci-fi theme entail? You'll just have to register for the Tire Rack Solo Nationals and come have fun with us at Lincoln Airpark in Lincoln, Nebraska to find out."

Following open registration, group paddock requests will be accepted beginning June 29 for groups of five or more. Each person in the request must be pre-registered for the event at the time of the request. July 13 will be the close for group registrations before the paddock reservation process opens July 20 to the general membership. People must be registered for the Tire Rack Solo Nationals to earn a paddock spot. August 24 is then when event and paddock registration will close.

Another important deadline is July 13 for first-come, first-serve tent reservations where Regions or Divisions can construct "Landing Zones" for social gatherings. Such requests must be emailed to Brian Harmer at bharmer@scca.com. This year there will be seven 20'X30' tents and two 30'X30' tents available.

Last but not least, the run/work order will be published August 17, and August 29 is the last day to receive a partial refund for cancellation. More information can be found at the Tire Rack Solo Nationals webpage.

Other Events / Badlands Motorsport Resort promotional events
« on: June 05, 2016, 01:05:10 AM »
Met with James Zelazo this last week and continued an earlier discussion we had about holding some promotional events for Badlands Motorsport Resort.

As you may know, they are moving closer toward building it!   Check the web site:   www.badlandsmotosportsresort.com

Anyway, it is time to start promoting it along with tourism for the Badlands area which stretches from Medicine Hat to Drumheller and points inbetween.

The idea is host some autox and/or advanced driving "mini-schools" for locals at towns such as Strathmore, Drumheller, Medicine Hat and other towns inbetween in the region.  We have some potential sites in mind already that we have looked into.

We will need some participants for these events ... capable of instructing and driving (including giving rides).

Part of the idea is to give people an introduction to what we do with motorsports and give them a chance to meet with us, ride with us and even learn from us.  You might say we are marketing and promoting motorsports in general and hoping to change the bad image or impressions that the general public seems to have.

So, please send me an email to let me know that you are interested and I will pass on more information as it becomes available.

We hope to be doing these events ASAP.

Thanks,

Reijo

Jill Snell is the event chair and she asked whether I would do the course design this year.  Of course, I was quite elated and will be doing just that!   8)

SASC Events / June 11/12 New event during SoloPro Schools
« on: June 02, 2016, 11:56:00 PM »
We are having to cut down the SoloPro Schools a bit (well, the Intro only) to 12 max. each....due to crossing the border issues.

Anyway, Tom mentioned he'd be willing to teach a separate school at the airport on Sat.

Is there interest here (need instructors also btw) in attending?  We could also do another school and/or practice on Sunday at the west end of the airstrip.

Insurance, porta-potties etc. are all paid for already so it would mean just setting up some cones at the far west end of the runway and going for it.

Want some more seat time?  This could be a good opportunity.

Let me know here ... to gauge interest firstly and then PM or email or call me if you would like to help out instructing (Saturday at least).

Thanks,

SASC Events / Morning setup and course design
« on: May 13, 2016, 09:23:08 PM »
Tom and I plan to pick up the cones at 7:30 am and do setup thereafter.

With another novice school at the end there will be two layouts again tomorrow (quite a few newbies) so any help in setting up is appreciated so that we can start on time!

I am doing the course design as we speak and will have printouts when I get there in the morning.

Thanks!
