Potential New Calgary lot dates? Which ones?
« on: July 26, 2016, 11:34:36 AM »
Just putting out a question when would people like to run in Calgary?  We have not finalized an agreement yet but we are close ... verbal agreement thus far.  So we are not 100% on just yet.  The lot is very large ... possibly the best lot we have ever had - 440'x1000' (approx.), smooth pavement, good  location but it is not guaranteed beyond a year.  The size means we will be able to host SCCA National-style courses!

Part of the agreement are the dates.  Ones without serious (CSCC) conflicts are as follows.

Do you have any preferences?  I am trying to get a feel for what dates will work for our members and others who would attend.

Please respond to this here and indicate which events you would attend.  Just copy/paste the dates you can attend and then I can make a tally.

1.   Sunday, July 31 (long weekend) ... this is a maybe.
2.   Saturday, Aug. 6
3.   Sunday, Aug. 7
4.   Saturday, Aug. 13
5.   Sat.  Aug. 20
6.   Sat. Sept. 10
7.   Sun. Sept. 11
8.   Sun. Sept. 25

Our official season ends on the Oct. 1/2 weekend with a Fort Macleod appreciation day at the airport.

9.   Sat. Oct. 08 (Thanksgiving weekend)
10.   Sun. Oct. 09 (Thanksgiving weekend)
11.   Sat. Oct. 15
12.   Sun. Oct. 16
13.   Sat. Oct. 22
 etc.

I probably won't be able to keep myself away from any of the dates for the new venue! But I also can't guarantee attendances anymore than usual as life sometimes gets in the way.

Right now I'm just eagerly waiting to find out if July 31st is a go

I'd make a sincere effort to hit an event or two on or after Aug 13th, no preference on which.  Can't come to any before then.

I booked at hotel at Red Deer next weekend so I could hit the 31st RDSCC event the next day.... if you are for sure running on the 31st I will see if I can get out of the hotel booking

As for the rest... local events? HELL YES! count me in

EDIT: I cancelled the room for the 30th, so I am good for the 31st :)

I'd love to have something the weekend of August 6/7 -- it's the only weekend between now and the U.S. Nationals that we don't have a local event, and I could use the practice and tuning time. :)

Later October will work for me.  So looking forward to driving in a square!  I can't imagine the deviousness that Reijo will get up to on this larger surface.

It did not occur to me but since the CSCC has an event on Saturday, July 30 then an event on Sunday July 31 would make it a two-day event ... separated by an hour and a half ... hmmm.....not a bad deal really.   :)  However there is a WCMA event in Regina on Sunday, July 31.  :(  Anyone going to Regina?

Geez, I'd love to attend an event in the Calgary area. That would be fabulous and it might facilitate the attraction of new local members if they try it out and get hooked....even if its only available locally for one season.

Count me in, Reijo. I'd likely try for most of the September and October dates. It would be great to try an extend into mid/late October. So often the weather is nice...or it snows...but either way makes for interesting driving. I also agree with Canuck insofar as you being let loose on a course design for a large unfettered rectangular area. It would be incredible......
