The SEB is not in favor of adding any tires to the exclusion list at this time.

Hmm, that is interesting that there was a proposal regarding this.

There was a Fiesta ST that rolled over at an SCCA event -- at least that was the rumour I heard while in Packwood.

That doesn't entirely surprise me, this car and a few others were borderline with last years tires, and the RE-71R upped the grip level quite a bit.  I have a feeling that this situation will continue for years to come since I don't think the tire war is going to end any time soon.

I have watched a video of a Fiesta ST going on 2 wheels, but it was running aftermarket shocks and a heavier front sway bar. From the video it also looked like elevation was a big part of what upset the car.

I know it is up on 3 wheels sometimes, but I've never felt it to be unsafe. It corners quite flat, and tends to kick the back end out if you push it too hard.

What I wonder is if "sport mode" can contribute to a roll over risk. When I drive it in that mode rather than just turning it off, the rear end stays firmly planted no matter how hard I push it.

With TC totally off, the car is constantly sliding around even with the RE-71R's on it and at the FM venue. I could see if you somehow upped the traction even more somehow how it could get too sticky .

I could see the e-diff being a contributing cause if there is elevation and bumps.  If the e-brake has completely locked up the inside front tire in mid corner, a sudden bump that plants that wheel on the ground would cause a huge jerk (in the wrong direction).

One other thing to remember is that for the big events the course can get quite rubbered in.  Some of the older street tires didn't work well trying to grip Hoosier rubber, but mayber the RE-71R's do. I know that BFG rented one of the nationals courses the day after competition ended to test their new compound, and I'm sure Bridgestone has done similar tests.
