Next events! Aug. 26/27 in Fort Macleod!
« on: August 13, 2017, 05:52:59 PM »
I was surprised a number of people asked about the next events (and that they were not on MSReg) on the weekend!   :)

They are up on MSReg.com now.

FM - Saturday practice (and a novice/intermediate school if there is interest will be held at the west end - let me know if you want to attend!)

Sunday is championship #10.

I'm interested in the novice/intermediate school - let me know the format and what we'll be working on.

Thanks, John

P.S.  if you could throw the small loaner helmet in for Sunday, I'll probably bring my middle daughter along to do some ride alongs

Hmmmm..... somehow I did not get that right when setting the event up.  Thanks for letting me know!

It is fixed now and you should be able to register like normal.  Also, if anyone sees anything incorrect etc., let me know.

Thanks again!

I just signed up for Saturday. I'm in for whatever the novices are doing; this will be my first time racing something not designed to haul lumber  :o

Thus far I haven't had much interest but Tom has said he is willing to help out with instruction.  We'll see how the entries change with the week ... only about 12 for the practice thus far but it is not Friday yet!   :)

Tim H. did the practice course design - nice one I thought ... I put it on autocad.

Sunday's championship course is a LONG one - over 1.1 miles ... somewhat speedy with the some unique maneuvers ... a bit of a take-off on the last one with the BIG whoop-de-do's that we had (think most, if not all enjoyed that one ... very challenging I thought).

The courses are all done and will be printing them this afternoon shortly.

Here's the practice course map.

If we have a school (if there is enough interest), it'll be at the west end and a variation of the novice school course that we have run for a number of years.  I quite like that novice school course ... very thrilling ... feels like in some places you have huge speed but it is a bit frightening as well.  haha

Not sure if anyone else cares, but I will place a solid vote against "speedy" or even "somewhat speedy".  Speed isn't what turns my crank in any way; I want complexity and technical challenges without needing to worry about the dangers involved with the amount of energy in my vehicle.

I really like the starting location change on the practice course. Is that unfeasible to run for a championship event due to larger attendance?

It gives zero overlap on runs, which means only one car on course at a time.  So, yeah, not suitable for larger attendance numbers unless you are wiling to have a lot fewer runs in the day.

Well done Reijo for the HUGE effort you make, it doesn't go unnoticed. Looking forward to Sunday, see you in the pub on Saturday evening.

Thanks Terry!    Yes it is a lot of work.... if you wish to do it properly.    :).   However, it also means we are more likely to have Fun!

Wed. evening weather forecast is +30 and +33C for Sat./Sun. ... hot, hot, hot ... bring umbrellas, shorts, sunscreen, water, gatoraide, water sprayers for tires etc. etc.  It's gonna be a warm one!

Forecast is still sunny and hot (28 Saturday, 32 Sunday) ... so come prepared.....umbrellas for the sun, water, gatoraide, etc.  I'll try and remember to pick up some water/ice in the morning.

Still 22C this evening, some light cloud and some smoke from the BC fires ... so pretty nice.
