South Calgary
« on: June 18, 2015, 08:43:49 PM »
I am unburdened by any autocross experience. I'm thinking I might come out to watch. I'm also thinking my car would be far more capable than I am. I like working on BMWs so I have a 97 E36 with a GM LS engine. Probably better with a stock E36 so I get myself in less trouble.

By the way a bit too tricky on the real capital of Alberta.... I said "A".

Forget the watching and just enter and drive!   Ask for ride-alongs and advice.

And then come and thank me for the advice at the end of the day!   :)

I briefly looked at some rules, nothing stock about my car. It would be in top fuel if this was drag racing. I think I'd better come volunteer and get the lay of the land first and then decide which car to actually drive.
Thanks for the welcoming post though.

Ha!  Well one way of making sure no spammers get here is to make sure nobody at all gets here.

Glad you figured it out, I  have re-worded the question for future registrants.

I think you'll have more fun and learn more quickly driving a "slow" car...I still do myself.

^ this is why I bought a slow car. Every came up on me too quickly in the S/C BRZ and I was just reacting without planning.

Yes, there is the old saying: it is more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow.
Not to mention the embarrassment of having a really killer car and not being able to drive it. Reminds me of my ski patrol days at Lake Louise a lifetime ago.  People with
expensive outfits and skis and not being able to ski.
I don't want to be that guy.
Unfortunately, I won't be able to come out this weekend anyway.

I tried driving my fast car on Saturday, the H stock Fords were less than a second behind in raw. Raced with my slow car instead.

I'll stick to the slow car for another 10 years...

Everything has come together so I will come out to Ft. MacLeod on Saturday to watch the activities.
Boy has the summer ever flown by.
Also have to be careful posting. I just realized when I thought I was going to the next page, I actually went to the next thread.

Some of us are going there Thursday evening and will be there all day, Fri-Sunday inclusive.
