Automotive Marketplace / FS - H Street '02 Focus SVT
« on: October 03, 2017, 02:11:05 PM »
Unlikely to have opportunity to participate for awhile and selling it will motivate me to finish a Volvo project!

So....

2002 Ford Focus SVT
252k kms and rising as I commute in it currently (timing belt due at ~260 k, parts will go with the car).
$3200

H Street prepped:

NEW in 2017...SVT springs, mounting hardware, Koni adjustables at all four corners, control arms, trailing arms, engine mounts, rotors and pads, front and rear endlinks, Eibach rear sway bar, MBRP stainless catback (horrible drone for commuting and I expect gains are less than the published 3 hp, will come with the stock exhaust as well).  New plugs and wires too.

Multiple sets of wheels/tires:

16" Sparcos (16lbs/, so not light, but better than the 19lbs OEM wheels) cloaked in RE71s (staggered tire sizing) with gobs of life still.  AND 6 additional RE71s at various stages of life, but all with plenty of tread still.  Need hubcentric rings when using these (no spacers since they're at max. offset already for class).

OEM 17" SVT rims with Nokian Hakkapalitas (on the car).  One rim is bent (holds air fine, would be ~$150 to have straightened), but balances and rolls fine.

17" Ford Racing wheels with Lexani rubber for the summer.  I'm not a fan of these wheels (heavy), or tires (loud), but they came with the car (and should probably be rebalanced).

Car runs well, burns zero oil and does great as a daily AND autocrosser.  It's NOT pretty: couple cigarette burns in the upholstery, poorly repaired driver's side fender, blemishes on the passenger rear fender and road rash on the front bumper from rocks and bugs.  OEM paint is peeling in a couple spots (mirror bases, fender wells and rear hatch - it's typical on these).  The only issue I know of is exhaust heat shield under the car starting to droop as attachment points fail (I'll get under there this week to try and address it).

I spent HOURS underneath it this spring cutting out old suspension parts.  All the new stuff went in with antisieze on it, so the frustration I went through should never recur.

The SVT was a legit hot hatch while it was produced, 170hp, 6 Speed manual and great handling.  In good hands it should push to crack top ten in PAX at local events, but it's never gonna outright win anything more than H Street!

I'll include my set up notes with the sale to help give the new owner a baseline to start from.

Thanks for a terrifically fun season and for reading through to this point.

Price is absolutely firm - $3200.  You'll find less expensive examples, but they won't be turnkey for autocross and you'd spend significantly more to get them there (there's probably $1000 in RE71s alone!).  Happy to finance for the right (young, new to autocross) driver!

Thanks for the answers guys, that clarifies things. The Spec FRS is tempting, anyone local considering running one?

Yes, but not until '19......travelling for '18 (hopefully).

Bumpity.....FREE!!   ;D

I probably undersold them when I declared them 'almost done' (although its close).  And I'll bring them to Red Deer or (preferably) Calgary rather than take them to recycling.  :D

This links the SCCA Solo Events Board conference call from back in Feb. that indicates a 1/1/2018 effective date....

I'm sure Reijo or Stephen or Tom or Ryan or.....can offer more.

Loving the whole roll out!!

Thanks for the link Reijo!

Anyone want a H Street prepped Focus SVT for a good/fair price?!

Gonna miss the majority of the 2018 season, but REALLY hope this is still around for 2019 (and beyond)!  PAX number is going to be interesting.....

Freebies.  Should have them dismounted and available to deliver to FM, if someone wants them...

I say 3+1 because three are useable for a couple days worth of events and the fourth has already been corded (but I'll include it if it's wanted).

Reply here....not good at checking PM.

Typical wear.....

The addition of the May 28th event to the championship calendar means there are currently 13 events rather than the 12 originally considered for championship scoring.....does that mean any changes to the scoring system beyond making it (presumably) best 7/13 as long as you have a minimum of two scores at each venue?

See you all in FM next week!

Well, sound limits are LIMITS....

Whether it's w.o.t. or liftoff and exhaust burble or B.O.V. release - the same limit applies.  Unless the meter calibration is off there's no need to apologize - you should be able to have sound meters everywhere on the course without anyone exceeding maximums.

Well, if we put a sound meter right behind the exhaust pipe of all cars, I guarantee all cars will fail.....every single one, even with stock exhaust.

So unless you have some valid scientific reason, that is just nonsense.  Maybe we should think of the children too ... and the world is going to end etc.  That's the same kind of reasoning.  Nonsense.

Seriously Reijo?!

That's what you understood from what I wrote?

Disappointing in the least, regardless of the respect I have for you.

Hear, hear!   :P

Have to admit I was concerned about the awful note from the SVT.  I grabbed an app for my phone, did a weigh scale first gear max acceleration with it registering 91.4 dB......was recorded at ~85 dB at YYC, so you can check on your own.  As a marshall, there were a few that were a complete auditory assault, personally I appreciate your efforts to police this aspect.

You must be serious about wanting a Toyota, Honda, import - otherwise, just go buy Chris's Focus for $1500 and run the crap out of it until you improve as a driver.  You'll spend at least that much modding a daily to get it where you want - 40-50% in tires alone!

Have to ask, just because a few of us were told it was going to be single best run of the day......can you post a single run best result too?

Sure: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0ByeFbiNdvLbGa3ZZd1gzTHVTMzQ

You're awesome Murray - thanks.  Wish it WAS single best run of the day!!
