General Discussion / Yikes...how to know which class to register in?« Last post by MiketheSpike on May 16, 2024, 01:46:41 PM »Hey - first time solo-crosser here...trying to register my unmodified 2023 Toyota GR86 in the Hagerty website for May 25, and not finding a definitive answer on which class I need to register for. I assume Street, but what are the A through H? I apologize if this is posted in an obvious place (I did do a search on this forum first, and on the web in general, but I'm terribly impatient lol). THANK YOU. Cheers

Driving Discussion / Re: New Car: Suggestions?« Last post by NickST on May 15, 2024, 03:48:21 PM »BUMP!
So how is everyone doing? Hard to believe how time flies. We had a whole pandemic since I started this topic! Oh, for closure... I sat first on a wait list for 2.5 years for a new Civic Type-R. As soon as they found out how limited it would be, the dealership discovered there was somebody ahead of me So then I sat on a wait list for a Bronco for 9 months.... which I had to give up on. By this point I had a hole burning in my pocket, so I just bought a car right off the lot. Had to get another orange car, haha. It is just a DD though, I am still thinking about getting another car for Autocross once I get my life settled a bit more in the future. Anyway, I hope everyone is well. I was hoping you had an event I could spectate at for the week of June 17 to 21 as I will be in town. Maybe another time though. 4

General Discussion / Re: Insurance for autocross?« Last post by jopete on May 02, 2024, 02:25:21 PM »We changed from a non-friendly to a friendly (don't know if I should name names) insurance company for this reason. Costs a fair amount more, but less than double.

General Discussion / Re: Insurance for autocross?« Last post by Cagare on May 01, 2024, 12:47:01 PM »There is no insurer that would ever provide you with coverage for anything that happens at one of these events. To my knowledge there is no insurance products that would cover any type of timed event. Historically there's been a very small handful of insurance products for HPDE/Lapping (non-timed) events, but even those seem to have of disappeared in Canada. While rare, incidents can happen. I have personally witnessed some pretty severe damage to a few vehicles, never at an SASC event as you noted though. The safety culture with SASC is quite strong and events are managed well. Still, things can happen, and at least for me, if I am driving a car that I am worried about damaging I am not pushing myself as hard than in a car I care less about. |
