Announcements / SASC Discord Server
« on: May 26, 2020, 03:32:42 PM »
Hi Everyone,

I have setup a Discord channel for SASC for anyone that is currently using it or interested in using it. For those that don't use it, it's similar to Teams, allows for open chat and has a web interface, desktop app and smartphone apps. I can setup any new channels if there is more interest in it.

Hi Everyone,

The executive have started to evaluate the possibility of holding autocross events within current restrictions in place from the Government of Alberta due to Covid-19. The current restrictions require a gathering size of maximum 15 people, on top of physical distancing requirements. The events would be for fun only, and we do not feel that we could have a season championship this year given the current restrictions.

While we are still evaluating the possibility of holding these events we need to understand how much of our membership would be interested in attending events within the current restrictions. Below is a link to a 4 question survey regarding whether or not you would want to attend events this year, and how many, as well as if you have a co-driver we need to consider. If you could please answer this prior to next Tuesday, May 12, 2020 it would be extremely helpful for us to understand the scope of events we may need to consider.

https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/GCZM28Z

While we are soliciting these responses we want everyone to understand we are evaluating these events as possibilities, not certainties at this time. We would like to hold events but we need to make sure we do so safely and within current guidelines. Currently the only venue we have booked is Fort Macleod, and would be likely the only location we would use to save on costs and keep event costs down for participants, but those rates have not been reviewed yet. If guidelines from the Province change positively we will take that into account also.

An email will also come out through MSreg regarding this as well. If there is anything in particular you would like to discuss please do so here.

Thank you.

Announcements / COVID-19 Update: 2020 SASC Season Suspended
« on: April 01, 2020, 11:17:38 PM »
The upcoming 2020 SASC season is suspended at this time as a result of the Alberta Chief Medical Officer of Health (CMOH) Order 07-2020, released March 27, 2020 (https://open.alberta.ca/publications/cmoh-order-07-2020-2020-covid-19-response). This Order prohibits all gatherings of more than 15 people in outdoor locations in Alberta and will remain in effect until rescinded by the CMOH.

The Club Executive is continuing to monitor the situation, but at this time it seems unlikely that the Order will be rescinded, or restrictions relaxed, prior to Club’s first events planned for the May 2-3 weekend in Fort MacLeod. As the number of affected events becomes clearer, the Club will work with our venue providers to find potential alternate dates later in the summer/fall. Our insurance provider has made it clear that they will work with us on any date or venue changes to ensure we have coverage.

As things change in the future, and once it looks likely that we will be able to resume our event schedule, the Club will provide updates through the Facebook page and Forum with as much prior notice as possible. Depending on what CMOH restrictions and recommendations remain in place at that time, we will look at various ways to proceed including entry caps, flexible cancellation/refund policies, and additional sanitation and social distancing measures.

Thanks for everyone’s patience as we work through this fluid situation. Unfortunately, this announcement is not an April Fool’s joke, so stay safe and stay healthy!

Sound Policy
We have a strict sound policy; The measurement will be taken at a point where the vehicle can reasonably be expected to be under load at full throttle. The measuring point will be 50 feet from the edge of the course using an ANSI Type 2 sound meter set to “A” weighting, “Slow” response. The microphone will be placed 3-4 feet above ground level, positioned perpendicular to vehicle direction of travel. Measurement will be taken at a minimum of 1 sound station but usually 2, rules apply for both stations.

If a vehicle registers a reading between 91.0-92.9dB the driver(s) will be given a courtesy warning that they are near the limit.

If a vehicle registers a reading at 93.0dB or greater the driver must make a mechanical change to the vehicle (ex. install a turn-down1, install a silencer, close an exhaust valve(s)2 etc.), the mechanical change must be shown to and accepted by the Event Chair or other SASC Executive member prior to the next run. A “mechanical delay” is permissible to make this change. If during the next run the driver(s) registers a second reading at 93.0dB or greater that vehicle will not be allowed to continue running (for both drivers in case of a two driver car).

Vehicles that register below the 92.9dB maximum in the measured section(s) of the course but are found to be excessively loud (eg. exhaust backfire, tire squeal etc.) in other sections of the course may also not be allowed to continue running if so deemed by the Event Chair or other SASC Executive member.

Please note that this also applies to showroom stock vehicles, we are aware that there are a very small handful of unmodified cars (ex. Porsche 911 GT3 and Ford Mustang 350R) that can exceed the 92.9dB maximum, these vehicles must still adhere to the sound policy.

Drivers of vehicles that blow over within their first two runs will receive their money back should they be unable to make a successful mechanical change and not able to continue their runs in a different vehicle. If the vehicle blows over after the first two runs refunds will not be issued.
Our sound policy is based on the SCCA’s which can be found in Appendix 1 of the rules located here: https://www.scca.com/pages/solo-cars-and-rules

1. Turndowns can only be installed pointing directly upwards, downwards, or rearwards, pointing the turndown 90° away from the sound meter is not allowed.
2. Exhaust valves that are adjustable electronically via the push of a button inside the vehicle are acceptable.

Rules & Regulations
•   No alcohol or drugs at the venue, zero tolerance
•   No stunting/drifting/burnouts/hooning at any of our events
•   You must obey all posted speed limits and drive respectfully on surrounding roads, those seen stunting, speeding or driving recklessly will be banned from future events
•   This is a volunteer based sport, in order to drive you must also work, those that don’t work their assignment both in the morning and afternoon will not be welcome back
•   When competing, your personal vehicle insurance is void, if you attempt to make a claim that is considered insurance fraud. In the event of an incident the SASC will fully cooperate with insurance companies. The SASC carries insurance to protect the venue.

All current SASC Executives (President, Director, Secretary & Treasurer) will resign their current positions effective December 31st, 2019. We ask for nominations for the new candidates on our forum (self-nominations or nominations of others). Should more than one person be interested in a particular executive position an online vote will be held in November, prior to the AGM.

- Nominees must post on 'Members Only' forum section their experience / qualifications, along with their enthusiasm for betterment of the club, in conjunction with their nomination. No qualifying post, the nomination is void. Allows for other members to consider their votes for their preferred nominee prior to AGM.
- Current executives are also able to be nominated and re-elected for 2020

Membership voting
- Full member in good standing for a minimum of 6 months prior to AGM (as per bylaws).

I think I can safely speak for the other executives when I say this that current executives will support any new executives and will still be involved with the club.

Hey Everyone, the club has had some of our radio equipment batteries start to go, and have actually had one radio failed. We decided to pick up some additional radios and batteries as we know that the Baofeng radio we use may no longer be available in the future.

We have ordered some equipment and had to have it shipped to the Montana outlet as they do not ship them to Canada.

If anyone is planning to head down to Montana in the next few months and would be interested in picking these up in Sweet Grass that would be greatly appreciated. The club would support some of the gas bill, and obviously pay all related tax/duty charges at the border.

Please PM me if interested, and we can discuss details.

Thanks!

SASC Events / SASC 12 - Airdrie - September 29
« on: September 23, 2019, 08:45:53 AM »
If we are unable to obtain 50 registrations for this event by Wednesday afternoon of this week we will be cancelling the event.

We currently have 19 people registered for next Sunday's event. We understand that the forecast is having an impact on registrations for this event. While the weather is not looking good we can still run and have done so last year.

Based on the expense of the venue we do not want to risk a significant loss to the clubs finances. We have a number of expenses coming up, like new cones, and this year has not been one where we have been save as much as we would have liked.

It is a Canadian model, purchased in Vancouver, spent it's first 7 years in Kelowna and then was brought to Calgary by it's second owner. I am the 3rd owner of the vehicle. The car is in very good condition and has primarily been my autocross car for the past 4 years with only part time driving. I bought it in 2015 with approximately 19,800km on it. I trailered it to events for the first 2 years, and it has seen travel to and from events for the past year, which has equated to 4000km of the 10,000km I have put on it.

The car is well maintained and is in excellent condition. There is an $846 accident on the carfax which was on there when I purchased it. It was backed into in a parking lot and the front drivers side fender was repaired and painted. All of the panels are VIN matched to the car. The interior is in good shape, the drivers seat shows similar to the use it has seen. The passenger side is in great shape. The remainder of the interior is in excellent condition.

It's currently fully modified for C Street with the following

-   Entire Car wrapped in Xpel Ultimate, completed in 2015 when I purchased the car
-   MCS 2 way adjustable dampers with stock springs
-   Karcepts 0.188” front sway bar kit
-   Custom single exit exhaust, with v-band clamp for easy swap back to stock exhaust
-   Modifry windscreen camera mount
-   Modifry cup holder mount modified with ram ball mount for phone mount
-   Modifry centre console organizer
-   Kenwood Excelon Single DIN receiver with Bluetooth
-   ChaseRace hidden hitch and wiring harness for towing/bike rack
-   K&N Intake filter
-   2 sets of OZ Alleggerita wheels, stock fitment 17x7 front, 17x8.5 rear, one set is black, other is gold powdercoat, both have 245/255 RE71Rs on them, still useable
-   1 Set of stock AP2V2 wheels, with stock sized Michelin PSS, with about 3,000km on them, these tires were purchased new in 2015

I have all the stock parts and will include them in the sale, including a fully assembled stock suspension which can be swapped on quickly if needed. I also have a Racecapture Track MkII mounted into the car with an external gps antenna, which could be negotiated into the deal as well.
