Welcome to the SCCA world beyond Championship Tour / National events.

ProSolo maintains courses (right / left sides) both days.

As does Match Tour events, where Saturday morning / afternoon is for class competition.
Then Sunday morning is Challenge qualifying for 3 distinct challenges Sunday afternoon.
I've yet to attend a Match Tour, but I'm keen too.

62
One course through the 2 day event. Similar to SCCA Match Tour format.
Allows competitors to build consistency.

Dial in... PAX computed between competitors each round.
Using your example...

Competitor 1    Dial in with 60.000 (1.000 eff PAX)
                       Runs a 61.100 x 1.000 = 61.100 eff time

Competitor 2    Dial in with 67.000 (0.896 eff PAX)
                       Runs a 67.099 x 0.896 = 60.089 eff time

Competitor 2 wins the round and advances.
Competitor 1 needed to run faster than 60.089 to advance.

Let's use another example where the same competitors each break out by 0.100 sec...

Competitor 1    Dial in with 60.000 (1.000 eff PAX)
                       Runs a 59.900 x 1.000 = 59.900 eff time

Competitor 2    Dial in with 67.000 (0.896 eff PAX)
                       Runs a 66.900 x 0.896 = 59.910 eff time

Competitor 1 wins the round and advances.
But their next round dial in is 59.850 (1.5 x breakout penalty).

Also...

2013 Packwood Super Challenge... Winner!! Winner!! Chicken Dinner!! Stephen Hui went all the way winning it.
Along with a couple rounds at the ProSolo Finale in Lincoln.

And then there's Reijo... SCCA ProSolo results archive only go back to 2013, but he's likely on record for some stellar CSP results back in '07 or so.

SCCA ProSolo Challenge results over the past few years... where SASC club members have qualified.

2014 Packwood Super Challenge... Cam Withell went all the way to the final round... amazing accomplishment with the talent pool present.
Note: 1st round loser to Cam... none other than myself. This was my first ProSolo event, first challenge qualification, and I was hooked.

2015 Packwood Super Challenge... Ryan Clark went a couple rounds.

2016 Crows Landing Bonus Challenge... I was lucky enough to be drawn for the challenge, and very fortunate to have won the Bonus Challenge.
I was hooked back in 2014, this event only set the hook deeper.

2016 Packwood Super Challenge... Cam went a couple rounds and Tom Kerns (Edmonton) went 3 rounds.

2017 Fontana Super Challenge... Ryan went a couple rounds.

2017 Crows Landing Super Challenge... again Ryan qualified.

SASC Events / OVERTIME 'FAT KAT' Challenge Event _ Aug 12/13, 2017
« on: June 29, 2017, 02:15:23 PM »
Once I started attending SCCA Pro Solo Events, and was lucky enough to have participated in a Packwood Super Challenge (1st round loser) and a Crows Landing Bonus Challenge (my 3 mins of fame as the winner), I was hooked on the challenge format. The SCCA also runs a challenge format at their Match Tour Events as well, so the format is widely utilized. I borrowed components of both Challenge formats to come up with our own version, focusing more on consistency, no matter the participants skill level (not everyone is a pointy end driver). I trust everyone will enjoy our Challenge Event format.

Any questions about the Event, format, etc. can be asked on this thread and I will clarify for you.

Technical Talk / Re: Nexen Tire contingency

I recall the NEXEN tire test being in a mid winter SCCA SportsCar issue. Bryan Heitkotter and Jason Isley if I recall correctly. Likely means the test took place late 2016 in order to utilize results for tires availability spring 2017. Bryan commented on their usability locally but questioned National competitiveness. Then in Fontana (April) he shows up NEXEN stickered and tired. Coincidence... I think not.

Ahh, but there is provision for electric power plants (non-hybrid) within EM (E-modified).

Reference section 18.1 Modified Production Based Vehicles and Appendix 1 Modified Class E (EM).

Good luck! Enjoy the build. Looking forward to seeing you compete down the road.
For once a seriously modified vehicle, not worried about sound limits.

Great to see you guys make the tow.

Our mid August 2 Day Challenge Event may interest a few of you.
Somewhat patterned after SCCA Match Tour events.
Best part... We found a sponsor for some serious prize $$$... Stay tuned.

Recent Nexen SUR4G comments from Southern California... Max Hayter, among others:

"I know they don't like to be pinched. We were running a 225 on a 7" rim. The Nexens runs super wide, so the 225 actually looks pinched on a 7", compared to the 225 BFG which looks square.
I think results may be better for Nexen with cars with camber running enough rim width. Our fronts took a beating after 32 runs in a weekend."

"My gut feeling says the Nexen is just a bit slower than the other two. I base this fact that even though I had a glorious victory in DS, I only paxed 15th. How can that be possible, given my alien like driving!"

"Meh. If they were quick everyone would be on them by now
<- Not going on them"

Now Bryan Heitkotter may have something to say about these comments.
It will be interesting to see what tires are on the blue STU come September.
Although I suspect sponsorship $$$ may play into it for this alien.

SASC Events / Re: YYC - WCMA Regional - Count as series Event?
« on: May 31, 2017, 06:31:32 AM »
Your executive puts considerable thought and effort into securing venues and scheduling.
Consideration for events was given to...
Development; novice schools, SoloPro school
Practice events; hone skills with no (OK minimal) competitive pressure
Championship events; again this year combined SASC / CSCC Championship, venue attendance and participation requirements, overall scoring towards same, etc
Other events; WCMA regional, Challenge, appreciation, etc.

I believe a good balance was achieved.
Requests to alter scheduling only upset this balance.

I encourage all members to get involved, not just event participation, but volunteer, attend monthly club meetings, voice your opinion, help guide the club going forward. Not that many years ago the club was at risk of dissolving, lack of member involvement was the key. We never want to return to those times.

Remember...
You can please all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you cannot please all of the people all of the time.

Ryan has run well both Pro weekends.
Very adept at pushing a new car, untested, to the limits immediately. Aggressive would be appropriate.

On a side note...
I'm now know as Sunday's 'Red Light King'.
2 at Fontana... 3 at Crows.

Chris Harvey is Tire Rack's brand manager for Brakes & Suspension. Great guy. Chatted him up last summer prior to my Koni's purchase from Tire Rack for the FRS.

Duo of Fenter / Harvey placed...
2nd / 4th in CS at '14 Nationals
2nd / 3rd in CS at '15 Nationals
This was with Fenter's $$$ Penske's personally revalved, set up for Harvey's NC Miata

In 2016 Harvey alone placed 11th in CS. Behind 6 ND Miata's & 4 Twins
