Lincoln!!!! We have 14 (corrected) people from our club competing down there! The site opens up tomorrow for people coming and camping on-site (or maybe today?) and with motorhomes etc. Then Saturday and Sunday is the Pro Solo Finale for the National Pro Solo Championship. Monday is a day off for seminars and the annual talent show (any participant can participate and I think GRM is broadcasting that on YouTube live). And then the Solo Nationals starts after that - Tues.-Fri.
All you need for the Pro all the links (incl. entries, run/work order live results and radio broadcasting etc.) is here:

And all the links (incl. live results, run/work order, entry list and radio broadcasting) - separate broadcast for the east and west courses) is here:

I think Ryan C. should be arriving in Lincoln tonight ... 2 day trip (20 hrs. of driving time ... almost identical to the drive to LA!). Typically I would drive to Billings, Montana and overnight there (it is slightly less than 1/2 way to Lincoln ... which would be slightly south but it is all freeway from Billings to Lincoln if you stay on the Interstate via Cheyenne, Wy.). Not sure when others may be arriving. Actually I wonder if Ambrose and Ryan are caravaning since I believe Ambrose and Jay are also in the Pro with Ryan?
-
Oh, and add Orieta (Jay's wife) in the GT3 in L2 as well! So 4 of our people in the Pro Finale! All in SS or SSL.
-
I took a screenshot for another discussion, and thought I'd share it here. In case you're wondering how Lincoln compares to YYC, here are the two at the same scale:

And that's just the competition course area -- there's a separate practice course that's itself as big as YYC (and has no light poles), not to mention paddock space for 1,400 competitors plus support vehicles and vendors. :)

The Pro Solo Finale begins tomorrow/Saturday morning!
The schedule is on Central Time in Nebraska (so I think the run start time is 8 am Central Time or 7 am Mountain/Calgary Time) ... and they are going to be running in the rain I believe from what I saw of the forecast today. Live stream including run/work order is here:

Ryan managed a 2nd place finish ... with no improvements for anyone as far as I could tell due to rain ... drying pavment and then more rain. ... Ambrose was in 4th (standing the same as Saturday) just one place out of the trophies ... Jay and Orieta did not fare quite as well but they were tough fields ...

I think we need o hear some stories about weather here. Stephen H came in 32nd, and Chris was 43rd; completely unexpected results.
Cam is in 4th SS, and Ambrose 7th -- both in reasonable placements, but I expected better (no pressure Cam, really :) )
Tom G is in 21st and Tom K in 34th (CS) -- both far below what I was hoping. On the plus side, Brian Coulson is in 1st -- nice guy, good driver.
And the big question -- how was the poutine at the Canadian tent?
-
Interesting tidbit: Although weather changes between run groups, Cam ran a second faster than the Vancouver Special!!!

And Cam wasn't in anything close to dry, so I wonder how bad it was for AM.
-
There was enough standing water on course for the first three heats that Bridgestones weren't the tire to have -- the fastest guys were on more general-purpose performance tires that were able to evacuate water.
And yeah, lots of previously ambitious people who are very, very disappointed.
-
The west announcer said the Vancouver Special was on dry Hoosiers. Joe went 35 sec faster when it started to dry out a bit ... or rather just drizzle rather than outright rain. I put lots of commentary on the FB page ... go there.
-
1 run to go, and Cam is sitting in first place. Go Cam!
-
It is over! Cam wins! GJ Dixon in 2nd and Charles Kim in 3rd! Ambrose trophied in 6th place and Ryan pulled it out in the last run and picked up the last trophy in 9th place! I remember once hearing that anyone of the top 10 (in a class like this) can win it given any single day/competition. Congrats again, Cam!
Also, think about it folks, 3 of our 4 guys in class trophied! Amazing and good driving guys!
-
Congrats Cam, Ambrose and Ryan!

Way to go everyone! Smashing it and representin' !

Totally!
Congrats to the entire crew that went down this year for obviously less than stellar conditions.

By the way we have 14 people down there:
GS Chris/Stephen
SS Ryan/Jay/Ambrose/Cam (Tues/Wed)
SSL Orieta (Tues/Wed)
CS Tom/Tom (Tues/Wed)
BM Dave C.(Tues/Wed)
DM Alan Rae (Tues/Wed)
FS (Sera/Richard - run on Thurs/Fri)
ES Julie (Thurs/Fri)
I think that is it.

It was brutal out there yesterday ... (day 1 - Tuesday) ... check out this photo from Solomatter (on Facebook):
attached.

I guess there were some cone penalties due to waves/splashes from cars ... yep they count. :( I remember someone mentioning a corvette in particular. Smaller cars = smaller tires and waves! :)
-
Thanks for the congrats everyone. Not where I expected to finish....
Had a nice dry course for third runs today which was a lot more fun. Yesterday was wet and miserable but worked out for me in the end.
-
Are you driving back tomorrow or sticking around for a bit?
-
Planning to watch Julie, Richard and Sera today. Will probably be heading home as soon as they're done.
-
OK ... wish them well and have a good trip! I'll be listening on-line ... hopefully the broadcast etc. will be working today.

I see Julie is actually in ESL and runs in the 1st heat on the west course today. Richard and Sera are in FS and are running in the 3rd heat on the east course.
Weather looks good for Lincoln today but maybe a thunder storm tomorrow:

OK ... looks like results are coming in ... Julie DNF'd her last run .. having a bit of a tough time out there. It looks like the top two gals are running away from the "pack" and the last 3 are clustered fairly close together including Julie ... so she can definitely move up substantially with a good day tomorrow. Don't know what the story is there (being the 1st heat out on the west course) ... maybe drying or warming conditions or both? Maybe someone can update us or we can check out Solomatters on here or others on the 'net/FB? http://sololive.scca.com/ESL.php
But still no live audio broadcast. :( We have had no east course broadcast at all from what I know ... equipment problems in the rain or something? But the west course has been working most of the time ... but I know they had problems mid-day or so yesterday ... and apparently not working now ... a shame.
-
Corey Dyck of Winnipeg is in 5th place 0.3 out of 1st in CM in his Formula Ford (Citation) ... Mike Marish is further back (from Vancouver).
-
Neil Tovsen sitting in 1st -- he might break his bridesmaid curse this year.
The Johnson Spirit of the Sport Award was presented to “The Eh Team,” a group of competitors from eastern Canada. Go to scca.com to see them picking up the award on stage (that's Dina holding the mic).

Wow Dina looks a lot different from the last time I saw her.

The west audio forecast is live right now ... almost done the 1st heat in SSC ... or half way through.
Julie just coned her first run in the 1sst heat ... 2 runs to go.
Sera and Richard will be running in FS in the 3rd heat on the west course ... so probably about 2 hours away.
-
Julie in 3rd with one run to go ... coming up in minutes. 1st heat in the west is over ... Kevin Dietz in 3rd after Matt McCabe in 2nd and Adam Benaway in 1st in SSC ... with 65 drivers!
-
Actually Julie just ran ... lost a place ... slightly slower on the 3rd run and ended up in 4th.
-
Estimating 1.5 hrs. to FS on the west course.
