Hey just wanted to be sure that ride alongs are still ok to anyone who has not entered the event correct? I fully understand not letting another competitior do ride alongs but it is  still ok for spectators or guests to go for rides?

Thanks

Scores from today attached.
Small request. A bunch asked where to find results. I said there would be a thread on the forum labeled "may 27 YYC ladies event results.  " Is it possible to start one?  I'd hate for someone to not see the results because they thought this was an old thread on getting registered.
Sorry if I'm being a pain.

At the meeting today it was decided to push the first event back one week to Sunday, April 22nd due to snow still on the ground at the venue.

New link:
https://www.motorsportreg.com/events/sasc-yyc-practice-novice-school-old-park-n-jet-southern-alberta-solosport-club-109084

If you were already registered for April 15th you're automatically signed up for April 22nd.

With more snow today, colder temperatures again, another week might still not be enough ::)
Are you entered? If not why do you care if we run or not??
Have you looked at the forecast? you dont think 9, 13 and 14 wouldn't melt whats left?
I am guessing you haven't lived in Alberta long to know that the weather changes so quick lol
When the day comes to decide if they want to move the date they will let us know.
Lets stay positive and burn some rubber!

Crazy question, but does anyone know roughly how much it would cost to plow the lot?

No point in holding an event if it's still this cold in two weeks, but if it warms up, plowing now could mean the difference between having a clear lot in a few weeks and not.

I have a contact and can ask, But first question is will Budget let us plow? Is it an insurance issue because we are a third party asking to have the lot plowed?
If budget says its OK then I can ask.
Also will they let us pile snow say around the lamp posts? (Wouldn't have to be there as long then ) That lot I'm guessing would require a rubber tire loader, not just a bobcat or he would be there for a few days because of the crusts that has formed on the snow and a pickup plow set up could work but not sure they could push it all off the lot.
Let me know if you want me to ask.
Do we know the dimensions of the lot and grid? I'm not sure if he will need that info.

So just to Clarify, Some one like say Greg and I who were 1st time rookies last year but we ran almost all events of last years season is now out of the rookie correct?

Standard practice in the 3 years I've been here - Rookie is 2 seasons from first event, regardless of frequency of events participated in during that time.

As you guys were regular participants in your first year you would therefore no longer qualify for rookie status in your second year. By the end of a full season of autocross we believe that competitors know the ropes (the importance of a course walk, looking ahead, proper tires etc.). If someone just does a couple events in their first season they would still qualify for rookie status in their second season.

I hope that helps.

Yup totally, thanks for clarifying!
Both Greg and I figured we would not be rookies anyways but figured we would ask incase someone else was wondering too.

Yes, the ASN rules supercede the SCCA rules in this case.  Note that ASN rules for 2018 nor helmet stds are not out yet.

Note also that I sent off a letter to Doug Campbell/ASN about the E-std. helmets so we'll see what comes of that.

As for classes and associated rules, we follow SCCA.

Sweet thanks Reijo!!!

Just to clarify, I am assuming we as a club follow the ASN CANADA FIA
NATIONAL SOLOSPORT REGULATIONS especially when it comes to helmet requirements. I know we talked lots about helmets at the meeting the other night and just wanted to get clear answer because of all the different helmet safety ratings between the ASN and the SCCA. (Section 4.5 Helmets, or page 22 of this document)
http://www.asncanada.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/ASN-2017-Autoslalom-Regulations-complete.pdf

I would hate to see someone buy a new helmet and find out it is not recognized by our club because we almost did it with Greg's new helmet he got

...What's not to like...

And lastly, I guess I've been overlapping my braking and accelerator in our Miata coming into the apex of a corner, in our TDI overlapping brake and throttle means no throttle response (since I was transitioning from brake to throttle) no matter how much I pushed on the throttle, so I consciously had to make sure I built in a pause between the two.

Funny you say that John, We have the same problem in the focus but if I even attempt to brake while on the throttle the can just goes to neutral lol was funny cause I kept trying to keep the rpms up in the corner but it would just shift to neutral and then i would have to come off both pedals before the gear would engage again.. Silly DCT, Oh well next year we will try again!
It was a great day forsure!!!

Greg and I had quite the little race between us and i actually was nervous he was gonna beat me, but then i put on my driving hat and took him by .04 lol
And Holly had so much fun driving again!!! She loved seeing everyone again!
Thanks for the amazing track layout and great weather!!!
