Hi all,
Myself, Reijo, Tom and Wayne presented to the Ft Macleod town council this evening, and we are pleased to announce that the club will indeed be back in Ft. Macleod for 2016. We had a positive exchange with the council and it's exciting to continue and develop our relationship with the them and the town.
Dates will follow in the next couple weeks as a few details are finalized, but expect to get going late April!

Huge news! Thanks for putting in the extra effort on behalf of all of us! ;D

And a big thanks to Cam and Q for going down to Fort Macleod last week to speak with some of the business owners.

Fantastic news. Thanks to everyone for securing the venue. Looking forward to my first real season! Ordering tires and that suspension I've been working on is ready to go!
-
Well done guys.

This is great news. Look forward to working with everyone to ensure we do whatever we can to positively maintain the clubs status with the residents of FM.

Thank you so much everybody! Your efforts are greatly appreciated! ;D ;D ;D

Great work guys! This is awesome news!

Great job folks. The airport is a fabulous location....especially when the guys set up the loooooooong course all the way down to the end of the runway. You start to see the curvature of the earth. All good. Looking forward to the season.

Any chance of putting out a tentative schedule for now? Just be nice to be able to start making a plan for the summer - I'm sure others have vacations, etc. they need to start locking down. Anything would be appreciated
-
I see the schedule on the forum main page makes no reference to there being a joint championship for this year. Is that off the table?
-
Do we have any dates yet
-
Look on the front or Home page. :)
-
Thanks for all the hard work you have done to make this happen :)

I think it's just an oversight on my part.

Joint series with CSCC again this year ... no change there.

Is there anyway we can reserve numbers for the season? I'm thinking it'd be nice to get some magnetic numbers for this year!

Give me a few days and I will write a program to go through last year's data and print out a list of numbers+drivers.

8) Thanks Murray.

There was some confusion last year - CSCC had a forum thread to sign up for a dedicated number, and that was supposed to be coordinated with both clubs. But then in the end there was conflict, so making magnetic numbers was, at least in my case, pointless. One applied to the Red Deer events, and I had a different number for Ft. Macleod each time it seemed.
Not sure if we could get this cleaned up for this year if we're going to continue joint championships? http://cscc.speedracer.ca/forums/autoslalom-news/2015-autoslalom-car-numbers/msg69586/#msg69586 (http://cscc.speedracer.ca/forums/autoslalom-news/2015-autoslalom-car-numbers/msg69586/#msg69586)

There is always conflict. Peope who don't read either forum, people from other clubs and other provinces, people who come back after an absence of many years, people with a new car that has numbers painted on the side, and so on.
It's not a big deal at almost any event. My software makes it easy to select a number and painters tape is always an easy fix for the day when a conflict occurs. Go ahead and use that CSCC forum list if you want to pick a reasonably unused number.
-
Having numbers that can be rearranged helps too. My mistake with magnetic numbers was getting two of the same number and a zero.

Here is a list of numbers actually used last year (CSCC and SASC clubs). I only show numbers and names if the person had attended 2 or more events in 2015.

Thanks for putting that list together Murray!
What is the SASC procedure for reserving numbers?
Typically we would have a number reservation thread on our forum as well but I can see how that would lead to different people trying to pick the same number on different forums. Perhaps I'll make a thread suggesting that people either confirm the number listed in Murray's post for them (thereby avoiding any possibility of a collision) or submit a request for a number also citing second and third choices, then we could set a cutoff date and combine lists after that, resolving conflicts at that time?
-
There's some issues with the data dump Murray - for example, Carter in the Cougar also ran as #50, so I took a different number at the Ft.Macleod events. But he doesn't show up in your data dump. Maybe that's a singular situation?
-
Gwynn used #50 more often that Carter, which is why he showed up as using that number. If you want, I could show a list of names who used a given number last year.
-
I dunno - may be helpful. In my case I know that the other guy has magnets made up, so I can just change to a number that wasn't run by anyone last year as per your list. Problem solved.
I guess other people who had to run multiple numbers can carry on, or check here to pick a different number up. Like you said, not everyone reads the forums. But then someone needs to start a list like the CSCC one last year, and manage it, and probably keep it consistent between both forums. That's a tedious job.
-
The first event of the season is only a week away. We should probably get numbers sorted out before then to avoid frustration. Should I take Murray's list and post it on our forums and ask our members to confirm their numbers there? Would anybody from the SASC like to coordinate number reservation with the CSCC? How do you guys want to deal with conflicts?
