I’m pretty sure I can come help again.

Luck was definitely on my side today!

Thanks everyone for a great day.

I'd like to have one of these test days, but mostly because I think one of the most beneficial things for my driving has been seat time in a wide variety of different cars with very different drive trains, power and suspension design.

My Civic had Carbotech XP10 Pads on it when I got it, and let me tell you it was absolutely horrible for auto x. After four runs in a row, I still had very little braking capability and the car was difficult to drive consistently let alone consistently fast because of that.  I'm sure a AX6 would be better, but I think you should run OEM pads until either you do find them overheating at some point (unlikely at auto x but possible, I did experience a pretty large decrease in braking capability during the challenge back in August, but had four runs with decreasing cool down time between them, and only on the final two corners of my fourth run did it become noticeable), or you find yourself actually going to Castrol.  In which case you will likely want something like a XP8 or XP10 which will be completely useless and detrimental at auto x, and at that point I would highly suggest only running them for lapping events.

I've considered changing the pads in my WRX to possibly a Hawk or Stop Tech street pad, but I am really really happy with the bite and ease of smoothness for my heal and toe currently while street driving and i'm worried I might ruin that small pleasure, possibly another thing to think about with your car?

When I walked the course (four times total) I really thought it would be a power course but in practice driving it, it really wasn't. The tight corners are a real challenge in being patient on the throttle to deal with exit understeer, and the fast quick direction change (last slalom cone on the second slalom) and the very first eyebrow were excersizes in getting the timing right of a quick squeeze of the brakes to get the front of my car turned in and the rear rotated around so I could be on the throttle fully immediately and take advantage of all wheel drive acceleration grip. I don't feel like I ever got that left hander exiting the second slalom or the final corner strung together well at all.

Third that. I've never felt the need to change shocks (except my BRZ and I went with fixed rate Bilsteins) because I am too inexperienced of a driver and not knowledgeable enough to tune them properly to help me.

I've heard that they will go off to a point when stored over winter. I'd probably look at buying them around March next year for my set, and I probably will order two sets for the season to start with.

Maybe they will re-class it with all the other Camaro SS's and Mustang GT's in FS?   ;)

This would be ideal...for me :P

Normally we'd be going but we are going on an Exotics cruise to Banff Springs instead.

Buy a FiST and run H-street against my Mazda 3 next year 8) bring back the battle of H-street
Find me a FiST I can lease and I'll take that challenge.

Ford.ca? Airdrie Ford? Calgary Ford? Are you saying they won't lease you a FiST?

Production has finished for FiST and the new model is not being sold in North America. Combine that with horrible lease residuals and it's fairly impossible to lease one. When I was looking it was $700+ a month for a three year lease vs $454/month for my WRX.

Team Ford in Edmonton has one that they will finance for 7 years at under $400 a month.

Not bad, still a fair amount of interest. I see the lease residuals must have changed for the better as the online build config is showing $425/month for a 3 year 20k/year $0 down lease.

I am having a dilemma of sorts, my oem offset is 50mm, and I am debating if I should try to find something with a 55mm offset to try and bring the grip a bit wider for autocross.  Does it make that much of a difference? Most of the rims Im finding have a 45mm offset, if I want to retain the 50mm offset there are some previous gen Mazda 3 rims that were 17x7 with a 50mm offset.   Im sure I am probably just nit picking over nothing and should probably just worry about that loose nut behind the wheel lol.

***edit***

I think I may have found my compromise for an autocross only wheel, NC Miata wheels, 17x7 5x114.3 and 17lbs.......anyone have a set laying around?

Going from a 50 to a 55mm offset would actually make the track narrower, a 45 offset wheel would make it wider and potentially be more beneficial.

I did manage to get up to 7th in PAX on Sunday which is pretty reasonable for the Caterham.

Yes, for sure.  All the lights and road-going stuff could be deleted in the car to make it lighter and more competitive etc. ... and more engine mods.  A slippery slope.   hahaha

Reijo

I did discuss some of that with my dad yesterday and Sunday, unfortunately we can't delete the road going stuff as then we wouldn't be able to get it to events. I damaged the drivers rear fender again so I suggested removing them at events but it's a bit of a hassle and time consuming to do at each event. Possibility of adding ITBs to increase the area under the curve for Torque however it will make tuning even more finicky. Boost will likely make the car undriveable on street tires especially in the wet, and top end work will bring down the longevity of hen engine and likely will require rebuilds every few years which he doesn't want to get into either.

It certainly is a slippery slope, that's why my WRX is staying in street class.
