With the forecast looking like it is something tells me we’ll have more than a few drop outs and no-shows.

And probably a lot of vehicle changes at registration too.... If it is really 3 degrees and raining I'll be bringing my daily driver instead of the focus.

Yesterday the weather report said 40% chance of rain on Saturday. This morning (8 am), it says 30% chance of rain.

Looks like the trend for rain is going down but it is also looking cooler in general with the present high forecast as +3C for Sat. ... Snow or all-season tires anyone? Ultra high perf. tires will not work well in those conditions ... In the cold the high-perf rubber will become hard and you will not have much grip (unless they heat up ... e.g. a 2nd driver may be invaluable this time as well as tire blankets!).

But this is Thursday and this is Calgary. What will the weather be like? Probably look out your window or door on Saturday morning for a better idea! hahaha

Ditto. If it's too cold, I'll be either running the DD on A/S tires, or the mini on A/S tires. If it's warmer, I'll be bringing the S2k on PSS.

For ultra high perf and R-compounds I use a rule-of-thumb of 10C for when they begin to work.  Anything below that the grip is just not there.

Some down south consider less than 20C a cold day and figure their tires are "not working" right ... hahaha

Blankets and a 2nd driver are very useful for cold temps and especially below 10C.

Hi everyone,

Depending on if the snow actually starts to accumulate... I may bring the AWD Previa/Estima out to play with it's winter tires. However the front tires are studded. Is that a problem?

UPDATE

As of right now the event is still on, Reijo is at the site now and is reporting that it is only wet, no snow or ice. However, if you don't feel comfortable running you can cancel on Motorsportreg for a full refund or credit towards a future event.

Tomorrow morning @ ~7:00am if conditions worsen (snow or ice present at the lot) the event will be cancelled. Make sure to stay tuned to the SASC Forum (http://forums.sascsolo.com/index.php/topic,557.0.html) and/or this thread.

In a year or more this lot may be gone ... re-developed ... not a big deal with studs ... but I think good allseasons may be best ... more traction than snows due to thread.
