2006 Porsche Cayman S
Artic Silver Metallic on Black leather
56,000kms/35,000miles
This car is available after SCCA Nationals in September. I'm listing it here now because some locals have shown interest and it would be my preference to sell it here. I will start listing it to US Autocrossers if there's no takers here. There's really no more events except locally for the car so likely the next time it will be used is in Lincoln.
Before anyone has to ask, I'm not selling because I've determined the car can't compete in BStreet. I'm selling because this is what I do every year...switch cars. I would really like to see this go as an autocross package with all the wheels and tires at once but there is no reason the new owner couldn't drive this every day.
Autocross must have options:
- 475 PASM
- 640 Sport Chrono Package
Autocross parts included:
- Set of Enkei NT03-M (http://www.1010tires.com/Wheels/Enkei/NT03-M/Painted/Silver/?boltpatterns=5%2F130) wheels in XRR spec wearing very worn 265/285 RE71R 18x8.5 +50 front 18x10 +60 rear
- Set of Replika Fuch (https://www.replika.ca/productinfo.aspx?wn=r186&fn=platinum&wc=porsche)wheels in XRR spec wearing nearly new 265/285 RE71R
18x8.5 +49 front 18x10 +50 rear - H&R Spacers to make the above rear offsets work.
- Tarett Engineering 26.8mm 5pos adj. front sway bar (http://www.tarett.com/items/986-987-products/986-987-981-suspension/986-987-981-swaybars~drop-links-/996-986-front-swaybar-assy-26-8mm-5-pos-adj-all-996-boxster-996fsba-detail.htm)
- Tarett Engineering adjustable length rod ended drop links (http://www.tarett.com/items/986-987-products/986-987-981-suspension/986-987-981-swaybars~drop-links-/996-986-front-drop-link-set-996fdlnk-detail.htm)
- Car will also have the OEM 'Lobster Claw' 19" wheels sporting good condition Toyo summer tires.
Other nice to have options:
- 343 Heated Front Seats
- 482 TPMS
- P16 PCM 2.1 (nav)
- P74 Bi-Xenon Headlamp Package
The first two autocross options are quite rare to find together and are what make this particular car ideal for autocross. I found and purchased this from the local Porsche Dealer in July of 2016. I drove it to work for a couple months then put it away for winter waiting for the car to be officially classed in BStreet. When it was, I threw on an adjustable front sway bar, got it aligned more aggressively, fitted the XRR spec wheels, and have been only using it for only autocross since.
Originally an Texas vehicle, it can easily be imported back to the United States as well.
Full Disclosure:
- The car has a claim from back in 2008 for a rear collision $7k repair.
- The 3m protection on the car is old and could be replaced.
- There are some paint scratches and three small door dings as you would expect for a car of this vintage
- When I bought the car it was occasionally throwing a misfire code. I replaced the ignition coils and it hasn't thrown one since.
- At the Fontana ProSolo the car began reliably throwing a CEL code related to improbable intake something reading something. After researching, I brought a new OEM Porsche MAF back to California with me and changed it out in the parking lot. It stopped throwing the code...until it threw it again twice while at Canadian Nationals in Vancouver. This is some 3 months and over 1,000kms later. I've changed nothing but it hasn't thrown it since.
If any of the above issues seems particularly concerning than I'll do you a favor and respectfully suggest you stop looking at 11 year old German sports cars immediately :P
I'm looking to get $34,000CAD for the car.

Paging Mr. Dan O'Byrne....
-
Ryan has allowed me the pleasure of co-driving the car at all SCCA events this year.
The car is top tier competitive in BStreet, it has folks attention at a National level.
Even with my own meagre, inconsistent talent, I've been 4th and 3rd quickest BS at Crows and Packwood Tours respectively... OK, that was only day 2 at both events... need to work on stringing consecutive days together.
Where ever the car ends up, the new owner won't be disappointed.

I can also vouch for this car as well as i've had the pleasure of driving it at Canadian Nationals as well as to/from (over 2000 km) Vancouver.
Car is in great shape and doesnt rattle at all over bumps (unluck some Porsches from earlier vintages...). As mentioned the car threw a code twice at Canadian Nationals but on the drive there/drive home there was no code thrown.
Extremely easy car to drive in general and whoever the new owner is wont have any problems driving the car hard at it's limits as it is fairly forgiving.
This car has a chance of winning B Street in any given day at any given course.

Someone pick up this car. Ryan has successfully run against Dan Bullis in his BS 'vette at Packwood either matching his times (for all intents and purposes) or else beat him (Pro this past weekend). FYI, Dan placed 2nd at the SCCA Nationals last year (0.3 sec. out of the win in BS).
In other words, if you can drive it, you could potentially have an SCCA Nationals-winning car here. This is very, very rare to have here locally.
If you are in the market, this would be a very good car to have.
Don't let it pass you by.
If, as Ryan mentioned, he puts it on the open market, I can pretty much guarantee you that it WILL be snapped up in an instant down in the 'States......people like that exist down south ... who can and will pick it up in an instant that is.
'nuff said.

So now that this car is a SCCA National Championship car? I bet Ryan could sell it at Lincoln while we speak! LOL
Buy it now! But remember, if you don't win in it, it isn't the car. :)

Everything is gone. You're too slow :P
Dang it... I knew I should've jumped on that deal :'(
I'm sure the new owner will be happy with the setup though, looks like I'll be following a similar setup come next year.
