One of the key questions? When to arrive: Come before 8 am so you have time to empty your car, walk the course (multiple times is recommended in order to memorize it!), pump up and/or change your tires, and whatever other preparation you need to do ... or just come and hang out and talk cars and racing!
Or better yet, offer to lend a hand (we all need help!) setting up the course, chalking the course, etc. or other tasks that need to be done at the beginning of the day. There is no better way to get to know people better than to work with them!

Terry pretty much nailed it. The license required is a Solo1 license, not a full race license. Depending on the class, not all cars require rollbars or cages, but in any case, a full cage is highly recommended. Drivers require a HANS-type device and 5-6 pt harness. My recommendation is for a car that would pass road-race specs. The course and the event is a lot of fun, but the nature of the road is that a little 'whoops' can go very badly very quickly (steep dropoffs, cement walls, big trees).

Wayne, it looks like you need to buy a second home in Oregon. Center of all your activity. 
I'm thinking about one of either San Diego or Packwood (Tour + ProSolo) next year. SD would be nice in lieu of an actual winter vacation. I want to run the Knox Mtn Hillclimb again in 2016. As many local and Ft. Macleod events as I can fit in and some lapping days with ASA. Also planning at least one ChumpCar race, hopefully two, and some road racing with NASCC. I'm going for variety vs Wayne's pure quantity formula. 
Jim what does it take to get a license for the Knox Mtn Hillclimb? Would I be able to enter with my stock corvette or do I need to have a roll cage?

I built one earlier this year. Murray is right using the Harbor Freight kits looks good on the surface until its time to register. I enede up using one of the 4x8 folding kits from Toys 4 Boys Motorsports. I had to do relocate the spring perches and do some screwing around to get it to a 4x4 but it worked out well BUT!
When I built it I was running 275 40R 17 Toyo's. The 4 tires fit nicely between the frame rails and i used some of the extra kit pieces as part of the tire rack. Thought I was golden. Stepped up to 295 35R17 Hoosiers and they ended up being wider than the 4' trailer frame so I had to fab up a new tire rack. Not quite as much tongue weight as I would like. Will look at options to fix this winter. I have toolbox up front and tires on the back.
Probably cost $1500 to get where I am now.
Thanks Steve, actually your trailer is what gave me the inspiration to construct one. I have been looking at some different setups and want to ask you if you considered stacking the tires instead of having them sit sideways? I am reading a lot of different opinions on that topic and just curious as to your thoughts since you own one?
I will try and resize some pictures this weekend and post.

I am looking for a tire trailer to tow to and from events. If anyone has one for sale or knows of where I may find one that would be greatly appreciated. Alternatively if anyone has built one and has some advice on the build I am open to suggestions. Thank you in advance.

Also does anyone have any stock C5 Z06 sitting around for sale 
If you are looking for one of those I suggest you get the 2004 model. It seems they have the best shocks, setup etc factory stock (from what I read anyhow).

And don't forget tools, any spare tires and stuff like that. It is good to go well prepped so you don't ruin a long trip if something simple breaks.

Very interesting debate, I doubt I would have any issues with the front end being light having that V8 as a counter balance. I never even thought of a slide in rack, thanks Terry I am going to do some research on that.

It is unfortunate that the venue is such a far drive. I would really like to keep using my race tires but I don't like having to trailer the car. Perhaps I can locate a little trailer and put a hitch on my car? Really enjoy racing with your club
