Title: Registration open for April 25/26 events
Post by: MurrayPeterson on April 06, 2015, 01:56:08 PM
Saturday practise: http://msreg.com/April25Event
Sunday championship: http://msreg.com/April26Event

There is a new feature this year for events at Fort Macleod (thanks to Motorsportreg) -- you can sign up for an event, but choose to pay on site instead of online.  This doesn't mean that we love to handle cash at events, but it does allow you to register even if you aren't sure you can make it.  All of your vehicle and other info will then be pre-loaded into the computer, which should make registration faster.

So, if you think you will attend, but aren't sure, sign up anyway!

As time permits (and you sign up for events on Motorsportreg), I will also pre-assign (and reserve) your permanent numbers.

Jo and I are in -- need to use up last year's tires.  Who knows how they survived the winter storage?  Hopefully better than Reijo's experience with Rivals.

I bet mine will be in worse shape.  Used Hoosiers that I have bagged but I know they weren't when I bought them...  Should be an interesting year.

I didn't see H-Street on the option for registration

Anyway, I am going to sign up with G-street or something instead and get it sorted out at the event

I do have some old 16" Hankook rcomps I need to shift.  Not sure if James still wants them.  James?

Doesn't matter to me, I couldn't find wheels for them so I bought a different car instead  :P

So... I changed my answer to the question "Are you a novice (less than 2 year's experience)?" to No today.

Basically my experience includes a handful of drop in events (maybe two or three for about 3 years) and one full season that I did with SASC when we had the Grey Eagle venue.... and I don't think it technically adds up to 2 years of experience, but it is probably like 1.75... so I think I should ditch the rookie title this year.

Sounds good.  We don't enforce this strictly, but it would be embarassing to win rookie with too much experience under your belt.

Yeah I think I have outgrown the title, haha

I was more thinking that if somebody who is brand new to the sport comes along, here I am slapping on my magnetic race numbers and swapping dedicated tires at site... meanwhile they going to the do the first run ever.

Really I want everybody to have fun, and hogging the rookie board isn't something that contributes to that.

Just noted that the school is not noted for Saturday ...

There will be a novice school at the west end of the track (practice course will be at the east end of the runway) ... like we have had for the last couple of years or so.

I can probably use some help from a few experienced members to help teach ... even a part day is helpful.

Thanks,

Reijo

Uh, so I'm reading posts, registration web pages and all that guff and not seeing anything about start times. What time should I arrive both days?

Reijo posted this in another section recently. It is about a 1:45 drive, so I will be leaving the house at about 6am or so.

One of the key questions?   When to arrive:  Come before 8 am so you have time to empty your car, walk the course (multiple times is recommended in order to memorize it!), pump up and/or change your tires, and whatever other preparation you need to do ... or just come and hang out and talk cars and racing!

Hey everyone.

I'm new to the forum and new to Autocross/Slalom and am looking for some information. I attended the ice driving school the last two years and would like to expand my skills on dry pavement.

What happens each day (Saturday and Sunday)?
Arrive at 8:00 on both days?

Any info is appreciated.

Thanks,

Adam

Registration, tech, set-up and course walks happen first thing in the morning ... It is a pretty busy time.

First runs about 10 am ... should see about starting earlier?

Lunch around noonish.

Run until about 4-5 pm depending on numbers etc.

This Saturday there will be two courses set up - east side will be practice ... west side will be the school and they are run independently.

On Sunday a single course will be run for the championship with some changes at noon so it is essentially a 2nd course for the afternoon.

Get in as many walks as possible and also consult with experienced people how to drive it as best as you can ... get some ride-alongs and take some experienced people with you to learn as much as possible.  This is much, much different than driving on the street!   :)

I live in the extreme NW corner of the city (furthest from Fort Macleod) and it is almost exactly 2 hours for me to get to Fort Macleod.

Weather for Fort Macleod ... a little cooler than the forecast earlier in the week ... but you never know in this country until the morning (and we run if it rains ... although it does not look like it for Fort Macleod this weekend):

I have a set of Hankook r-comps on AP1 wheels --anyone is welcome to burn them up if they want.  Cold weather probably makes them less than useful though...

Why not bring them along and we can have a bonfire?   :)   Actually on a practice you can run on them ... just need to get the winter rust out anyway ...   :)

Jo and I have decided that we are too lazy to change tires at events :)  But anyone is welcome to "borrow" them for a weekend.

You make me want to bring out the AP2 instead of the Mini this weekend.

Who's heading down tonight?  I'll be in front of the Red Coat putting a few more decals on my car and then heading to the usual pub after that to see if anyone is around.

I am just getting all the course maps printed ... pick them up ... throw a few things in the car and then to the garage and down to Ft. Macleod....  So I should be there maybe 6:30 ish.
