General Discussion / Insurance for autocross?
« on: April 23, 2024, 10:38:10 AM »
Hey folks, this will be my first season ever of autocross, and I'll be using an almost new vehicle to do so. I understand that your typical car insurance will not cover you if something happens to your car while you autocross, so what is everyone doing for insurance? Just rolling the dice? Just curious. I'd think the chances of getting into a collision is very very low while autocrossing, so I assume most people just don't bother, and are prepared to cover their own damages if something occurs...?? Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

General Discussion / Affordable Helmet Recommendations?
« on: September 15, 2023, 08:48:38 AM »
Hey folks. Looking to join next season, and all my helmets are way too old (motorcycle helmets) to meet standards. Wondering if there is a go-to cheap but good helmet suitable for autocross and other potential track days (or a particular retailer to go see). I'll need to buy 2 so the more affordable the better :)
Thanks in advance!!!

General Discussion / Nationals - spectators welcome?
« on: August 25, 2023, 08:20:57 AM »
My son and I had a blast watching one event earlier this summer. Wondering if the Nationals is the same in terms of allowing spectators and filling out form at gate? Sorry for pestering -- it is a long drive so just want to make sure! Thanks!!!

General Discussion / Spectators?
« on: July 13, 2023, 02:16:00 PM »
Hey folks - as I don't have my car yet (but coming soon!) I wanted to at least come out and watch an event. I see there is one coming up soon at the Airdrie Airpark (which is the one in Airdrie, right? I'm seeing something called that name in Calgary as well) -- just wondering if spectators includes all ages, and if there is a fee to watch? Thanks in advance!

Member Introductions / Is SASC for me? New Member
« on: October 04, 2022, 02:00:26 PM »
Hey folks. I'm getting older and I've realized that I don't wanna die before I get a chance to learn how to properly drive and drift a corner or two. But I'm not interested in roll cages, extensive car mods, trailing my vehicle, travelling hours away (I'm in Calgary), and potentially crashing into other cars. I am gearing up to purchase a suitable vehicle such as a GR86 and am wondering if this is the place and if these are the events for folks in Calgary who just want to test themselves against a clock and better their driving skills. Solocross seems like the best fit, but I'm a complete newbie and ran across this forum accidentally. Thanks for any guidance you can provide!
