This past weekend saw a handful of SASC members make the long trek to the SCCA Solo Championship Tour in Packwood, Washington. There was a total of 11 drivers who regularly compete in SASC events. Cool and wet weather and changing conditions on both days made for some interesting challenges. The monthly club meeting is happening this Tuesday at the Glendeer Junction A&W located at 80 Glendeer Circle SE. Start time is 7:30pm. To increase awareness of club challenges, and facilitate event planning and growth, all members are encouraged to attend!
Dates for the 2016 Solo Season have been released, including 5 championship events held as part of a joint Solo Championship with the Calgary Sports Car Club. In addition to these championship events, the SASC is excited to host some special events, including a elimination tournament, team challenge weekend and SoloPro school weekend. The dates for these events are as follows. All events will take place at the regional airport in beautiful Ft. Macleod.

Note that some of the events for these dates are tentative, and may be re-ordered to accommodate the availability of the SoloPro team. Details for the Tournament Challenge 32, and Team Challenge Weekend will soon be released in the forums. Cash is king! There's nothing like a cash prize to motivate good competition!
Competitors and other event attendees, should note that in an effort to further develop the SASC's relationship with the surrounding community, certain event guidelines will be strictly upheld for 2016. As motorsports enthusiasts, it is the goal of the club to not only host motorsports events, but to demonstrate that motorsports activities can be conducted in a responsible, sustainable manner that benefits the surrounding community, and participants everyday driving skills and behavior. With this in mind, participants and attendees are reminded to be respectful of others both on and off the event site.
In an effort to minimize our impact, in 2016 the club will strictly enforce a 93db sound limit at all Ft. Macleod events. All participants will be given an opportunity to evaluate their vehicles sound level the weekend of April 23rd. After this first event weekend, any vehicle in excess of the sound limit will be banned from participation until appropriate modifications are made.
Questions regarding this regulation, or other details of the events can be discussed in the forums. We are less than one month away from getting at it!
The Southern Alberta Solosport Club (S.A.S.C.) is pleased to announce that events for our 2016 Solo season will once again be held, in cooperation with the town of Fort Macleod, at the Fort Macleod regional airport. Since 2010, our club has held events at this wonderful venue and developed many relationships with both local businesses and residents alike. We are excited to have the opportunity to continue developing these relationships in 2016, and to celebrate that, it is our hope to cultivate even greater community involvement in both the greater town of Fort Macleod, and at our event site.
As a non-profit organization, driven by members and volunteers, the S.A.S.C., is more than just a competitive motorsports club. Our members are strong advocates for public drivers' safety and skills development. That shows through in our programming.
- Since 2010, our Winter Driving School Program has been a key part of our club. Using motorsports skills as a foundation, members of the general public have the opportunity to explore and learn the limits of both their vehicles and themselves in extreme winter conditions.
- Solo Pro schools and club run autocross schools offer a great opportunity for new and experienced drivers, or drivers interested in learning about motorsports, to understand basic vehicle handling and racing techniques on a closed course.
- Finally, within our Solo season series, we offer a Rookie and Regular Championship, for drivers new to motorsports and motivated to pursue competition.
More information on these programs, and other club initiatives can be found in the forum section of this website. We are a group that is tremendously diverse, and yet all linked by our love of driving. Whether on the ice, or the asphalt, we hope to see you out there.
