I know it is early in the season, but it looks like the MX-5 isn't the overdog in CS that I feared.

If GH Sharp had not coned his last run in CS, he would have been in 3rd only a couple tenths out of the lead (Note that he is a past national champion and even helped with the SoloPro School in Florida a few years ago). The Scion continues to surprise me ... well-balanced but awfully fast for an underpowered car......very much like a Miata.
However, note that in STR, the new MX-5 is leading ... Development will continue to make the car faster and faster .... LOTs of really fast, national-level drivers have picked up or are running the new Miata ... interesting.

3rd heat (STR) running now ... out of 5 heats.
Darrin DiSimo, author of the Pro Solo software, is running a '16 MX-5 ... near the top ... but just coned his first run ... 2 more to go.
Interesting results ... Jinx Jordan won his class as did Mr. Roberts followed by Eric Peterson in ES (both SoloPro instructors) ... seems to be quite a few cones hit. Wonder what the course looks like ... saw some video somewhere on FB .. Steve Hoelsher in his Prepared MR2 ... from yesterday

Whoops! Correction, that was a video from January at the same lot ... different course ... but somewhat limited due to the narrow lot ... almost like an airport course really.

After 2 runs today the '16 MX-5 is 1st and 2nd with a run remaining. Ricky Crow in his S2000 is in 9th (2nd yesterday I believe) but he has coned both of his first two runs today ... putting himself in a hole .... A real test to see how he does ... they are running now!

And Ricky gets it together and wins over two days by 0.067 seconds! Less than 1/10 over two days, two courses. Amazing job. The 2016 MX5 was 2nd and 3rd.

Darren Murray and his son, has run with us a number of times and he has a Stalker. They are supercharged and are fairly quick.

Might have to do with size availability? Rivals come in a better size for STR with their tire size limitations?
