That's not what I see - 60% chance of sunshine and above freezing even at night (low of +2 before that is - Saturday night/Sunday morning).  +12C for a high.

However, this is Calgary and I would not necessarily trust the weather forecast one day before!  LOL    :)

It would seem the weather forecast has changed in the last hour lol, go figure, the potential flurries is now Sunday night into Monday.  Hopefully its nice and dry for Sunday :)

Didn't realize I was doing the course design for a change ... LOL .... forgot!!!

OK how does 4 pm tomorrow (Saturday) sound for setup?  Cones are on-site already so it should take less time than ever!    :)

I was kinda hoping for a rain event but the forecast for rain is fading .... hahaha

What are you thinking?

I have some work to do on the car with Tim before that and I won't be able to if I come much earlier. ... never mind regular work that I'm behind on ...

Please make sure the small helmet makes it into the load from the locker this week, looks like I'll have one of my daughters along again for Sunday's event.

Thanks, John

I think all the helmets are already at the locker except that Cam and I have some of the helmets from Fort Macleod that we brought back.

2 or 3pm would work for me.

Bill.

I am almost certain that I cannot make 2 pm .... 3 pm might be a struggle as well, but I can try and see what I can do.

Or maybe if you don't mind going early (along with anyone else), I can send you the special set-up maps and arrange to have access to the cones.

Cones can be setup for grid very easily like usual along the two rows (even without a map).

In the meanwhile, I'll get there as soon as possible.

I'll send you an email, Bill (Ridge).

It is supposed to rain at night so we might not line the course since it will wash away ... so we'll see.  I may use more lay-down cones in lieu of lining.

By the way, I'm going to propose to the executive, and everyone for that matter, that for the people coming to help out on Saturday for set-up, that set-up should be considered their work assignment.  This way, they will not be required to work on Sunday (unless they wish to volunteer to help out in other ways of their own volition).

The people coming out on Saturday are making an extra trip and spending 1.5-2 hours helping to setup ... That is a lot of work and time ... plus their travel time, let's not forget!

I have also noticed that it is often the same people helping out at the end of the day putting away the cones (in storage etc).  Of course, this will be a much simpler process with the cones being stored right on the lot.    :)   Yes, I can see this being a really good thing!   :)

So thanks for the help!

I am planning on a longer course, so give yourself a bit more time than usual to walk the course.  :)

Is there a way to remove yourself from registration on msreg? Unfortunately it hit the fan at work on Friday and I'll be tied up fixing things on Sunday. :(

Log in and go to the event dashboard.  There should be a "Cancel registration" link on that page.

Yeah, now I don't know whether to bring the Miata on summer tires and take a chance on getting back home or bring our wagon out to hoon around on its all seasons.

The Miata will certainly be more fun, and I don't expect the roads to anything other than wet when we finish.  Any snow/ice that sticks wouldn't happen until later in the evening.

Latest report is partially sunny/cloudy but turning worse in the late afternoon and overnight on Sunday-Monday.  So, I think we are good.

Bring the Miata!   :)

Thats a very different forecast than what is on Environment Canada's site (20-50 mm, mixed rain and snow in the afternoon).  I guess I'll decide in the morning.  John

They had this forecast yesterday but then changed it ... and now they have changed back.  I have found these guys seem to be slightly more accurate (as far as I can tell).

Sometimes I think the Environment Canada guys are doing the forecasts from Ontario and that they really do not realize the instability caused by the proximity of the mountains ...

And that was totally worth the effort - cold and windy, but turned into a nice fall day at the end, now my summer tires are parked back into the garage for tonight's storm.  Great course, I enjoyed it a lot after my daughter helped me figure out the cone I kept missing (and nope, not the one at work station #6, I watched too many cars DNF there this morning to mess that one up).

Had a great time today, Reijo that was an awesome course, thank you for that.  Im finally beginning to unlock the potential of my Mazda 3, the upgraded rear swaybar made a significant difference in how the car felt and how it handled the tight stuff.  Thanks again to Shane for helping me out with the installation of said rear swaybar.  Congrats to Rob/Greg for completely wrecking any times I put down lol, I tried, but I could not catch you two 8) nice driving today.  The handling on my Mazda changed so drastically that it really threw me off and I kept over/under driving everywhere haha it was awesome :) I really enjoyed it.  I can't wait to take the autocross school next season to have instructors available to help me smooth out my lines and my critical thinking on the course.  I have lots of work to do with that loose nut behind the wheel and am super excited to dive into next season with proper tires.   Hope to see some of you on Ghost Lake this winter and am looking forward to both ice racing and the SASC Ice Driving School, cant wait 8)

Oh, yes, another part of the course that I found interesting and fun was in the afternoon course, where we shortened the left turn after that big first, opening up sweeper to the left ... getting high in 2nd gear with the S2000, backing off the gas and trail-braking rotated the rear to the right and then getting on the throttle lightly balanced the car (transferred weight to the rear wheels, thus giving them traction), much like a teeter totter is what it felt like).  Back off a bit at that point and weight would transfer to the front, giving the front more traction ... back and forth, finding that proper balance. .... good fun.   :)

Unfortunately I had to choose between one or the other.  My tires are very close to the wear bars and I have yet to purchase winter tires so I cannot afford to wear these tires down any further.   But I had a great partial season and can't wait to jump in next season.

Pffft.... Wear bars... that means there's still tons of life, they are like the fuel gauge sure it says low but you got lots of distance still!!!
And if your gonna get winters why not finish these in style and cord them out lol

I won't have winter tires until November and need these tires to last until then, corded tires don't get me to work, or back home.
