These changes have been recommended to the BoD, which means that they could theoretically still be rejected, but will most likely take effect for 2018.
Highlights:
- Supercharged Elise and Exige from exclusion list to SS
- Normally aspirated Elise (Ambrose!) from SS to AS
- 986 Boxster S and 987 Boxster and Cayman from STU to STR
- Lots of cars added to SSR
Also:
- Piggyback ECUs banned from 2006 and newer cars in Street Touring
- Standalone ECUs allowed for 1995 and older cars in Street Touring

This is just great! :-\
I was hoping to return with a tune next season.
Does this mean piggyback tunes automatically fall into SM class?
I'm still holding thumbs for the ruling on STH class
Also, what is STR class?
Whats the R stand for?
-
STR means Street Touring Roadster.
All ST classes are by inclusion only -- you will need to check appendix A in the SCCA rules to see if your car is even allowed in any of the street touring classes.
-
From what I've read so far, I believe my Golf will fall into STH since its a turbo hot hatch.
My understanding is this class is being introduced since aftermarket tunes aren't available without increasing the boost levels & this class would allow you to run a tune with higher boost, but not allow the many of the other mods which will throw you into SM

so more torque steer with the same lvl of grip, sounds like fun ;D

The R doesn’t really have torque steer with the new Haldex.

so......more power with more oversteer? more understeer? an actual advantage that will let the Golf R catch Cam driving an ND Miata? lol

Nope, most likely not....
But I bought the car with the intention of modifying it, with tune being among the first mods I wanted.
So being my daily drive, I want to get the satisfaction of daily driving it with mods more than i want to satisfy specific classing rules for autoX.
Ofcourse, I'll still strive to catch Cam's times but even that's not possible with my body weight consistently going up ;D ;D ;D

And here you are complaining about gaining weight and here I am wanting to lose the weight LOL

That's what happens when your 2 passions oppose each other.
I need to be heavier to compete in my other passion but that makes me slower in autoX where i actually need to get lighter. :-\
