SASC Events / 2021 SASC Membership

Has a link to MSReg been established for 2021 SASC Membership?

Current venues, along with venue time constraints, are not really conducive to mid day course changes with rewalks. We’re hard pressed as it is to get am / pm worker changeovers done with a short lunch break.

Member Discussion (Private) / Re: 2019 Solo Venues
« on: January 11, 2019, 04:44:29 PM »
Ryan,  I think if you read between the lines a bit...

Budget YYC... availability likely for early year, short notice cancellation
Ft Macleod... application for use submitted, request for similar number of events there as last year, no reason to suspect denial
3rd Venue... this is a work in progress, hopefully to bear fruit

Well folks... it's another wrap... the 'FAT KAT' Challenge for 2018.
Many thanks to our sponsor Overtime Rentals for prize money again this year.
Miraculously we got the Final 3 runs in before the deluge.
Unfortunately we did not get to celebrate with an Awards Presentation.
Thanks to those who braved the rain and helped clean up.

Consistency, OK along with some sprinkling of sand, was the order of the day, if you wanted to advance in the challenge rounds

Group #1  Clara (#11) managed her sand pile nicely throughout the challenge and was into the Final 3 beating Jared (#43) by a slim 0.850 sec

Group #2  Scott (#711) benefited from a coned run by Jess (#92) to advance to the Final 3

Group #3  Doug (#411) managed his sand pile nicely through the challenge as well and was into the Final 3 beating myself (#180) by a scant 0.105 sec

FINAL 3 Shoot Out
All 3 final runs were clean with Doug taking home 3rd Place prize money ($100), Clara using a 0.297 sec advantage over Doug to take home ($300) 2nd Place prize money... and then there was Scott, mister consistent saving his 0.048 sec break out on his final run to take home 1st Place prize money ($500).

Congratulations Scott!! Good driving today.

The Consolation Challenge winner was Faniel (#700) taking home $100.

You’re welcome.

Attached find the initial 32 qualifiers for Sunday's 'FAT KAT' Challenge.
The final 16 qualifiers will be determined tomorrow morning.
All remaining entrants will be entered into the Consolation Challenge.

Remember... Consistency is key.
All entrants scratch times for the challenges will be determined by their RAW times on Sunday morning.
To ensure no one carries sand into the challenges, all cones will be removed from entrants times to determine their scratch times. Also... anyone breaking out (running faster than their scratch time) will have a new scratch time assigned with a 150% penalty factor, to their next round.

General Discussion / Re: What class should I be in?

Review the SCCA rules closely for HCR. I believe your 1982 falls within the ‘same generation as 1974’ ruling. HCR rules are fairly liberal.

At this point in time, 9 events into the 14 event Championship, I feel it's inappropriate for the SASC to even consider a change to this season's attendance requirements. That's a decision to be made pre-season, or at this year's AGM for next season.

My personal opinion is that it's too the club's detriment to marginalize attendance at Fort Macleod and risk losing it. A venue lost historically is never recovered.

Also my opinion that this year's Fort Macleod events have been below SASC standards. We can't do anything about the weather, but organizationally we must improve.
- First car out 10:00 sharp, means drivers meeting 9:30 sharp
- 40-50 sec course designs only

This weekend...
- First car out 10:26
- +80 sec course average
- ~4 hrs to complete 3 runs each
If...
- First car out @ 10:00
- ~40 sec course
- 3 morning runs completed @ ~12:00
- ~60 min lunch break
- 3 afternoon runs completed @ ~3:00
- Course cleanup, on the road by ~4:00
- Home by ~6:00

It's not rocket science!!

Registration is now open:

msreg.com/sasc10-fatkatday1
msreg.com/fatkatday2

Just a reminder for those registering on Day 1 and paying the weekend, 2 day, rate...
You still need to register for Day 2. It will come up as N/C on checkout.
Alternately you can pay for Day 1 and / or Day 2 separately.
And don't forget... all entrants on Sunday will be in a Challenge that afternoon for prize monies.

Agreed... robust economy helps.
Attendance peaked at ~1,100 in 2007 (Topeka). The move to Lincoln in 2009, combined with street tire class (Street, Street Touring, CAM) introduction has pushed record attendances up almost every year. Our little Motorsport of Autocross is definitely one of the few bright spots in the Motorsport world.
