Other Events / Re: What Are Your Plans for Autocross in 2016?
« on: January 11, 2016, 12:39:06 PM »
haha, I was so stoked when I found that to use. I had a little hot wheels BMW 2002 to use intially, but the scale of the cones was just too big and it was hard to see on camera.... dug that slammed beauty with spinners up out of my relic box in the basement!

I think I am going to do a "Top PAX cars for 2016 video", and select the top 3 cars for each class using a spreadsheet from the national events.

I also wouldn't mind to do a narrated anylsis of a run with somebody, I have a wizzy stereo microphone so one person would be talking out of the left speaker, while the other would be coming out of the right... I think it would be a neat effect.

Instead of racing this year, you should uh focus on your Youtube stuff  ;)

Not sure how much travelling I will do this year, will likely go to Packwood, hopefully Vancouver as well, maybe Lincoln in the fall.  The way our dollar is going is making it harder to go south...

My plan is to win but some dude in a white CSP Miata keeps beating me...
I recall a few events where you have beaten me including the last event at Fort Macleod.

I know.  I was just poking fun  :P

SASC Schools / Re: Winter 2015-16 Winter Driver Training Schedule and Info

Good news. Do you have a designated recovery vehicle?

How much is a good tow strap? I will have winter tires with spikes and lockable awd, should do the trick for recovery yes? Lol until I get myself stuck  ::)

Edit: Any suggestions on where I can buy a good snatch strap to use for recovery?

Princess Auto.  I got mine for about $40 and its a 32k?ish lbs recovery strap.

Last year I found the majority of people stuck on ghost lake were just randoms in trucks with all seasons, I spent a day on my own once rescuing people in my Civic RT4WD without studs including a few full size trucks.

Hoping to hit a few this year.  Unsure if I want to drive the S2000 there or trailer it though.

It's a nice drive in the S2000.  I can't imagine wanting to trailer our S2K.

I am more worried about potential reliability problems, but the S2000 isn't a great highway car either way unless its a twisty highway.

Damn I was hoping those pesky non Z06 C5 Vettes would be moved to AS so I only had to contend with the AP2s...

Automotive Marketplace / WTB: S2000 wheels and tires for lapping
« on: October 01, 2015, 01:13:41 PM »
Looking for something hopefully soonish to get a day of lapping in.  Ideally 17x9 +60 offset with some 245s or 255s but will consider all options.

General Discussion / Re: Racing season may be done for us

That is almost certainly the inner CV joint bearing surface getting rough.  Here is a cheap fix: http://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/241367-axle-bucket-inner-cv-joint-swap-diy-with-pics/

I have a socket for the read axle nut if you want to borrow it.

Thanks, I will probably tackle it over winter while we tear the car down and refresh a lot of things.

I get some vibration in the 30-70km/h range under light acceleration too, thought it was a wheel but its something else as well.

You don't need torque if your car is light  ;D

the AP2 still has a chance -- provided the course designers don't do more ridiculous courses like this year's east course.
Actually I heard the Corvettes beat up the S2k's worse on the west course ... never mind the east!
I just keep reminding myself I bought the S2000 because it is enjoyable to drive, not because its a winning car...
Did anyone actually look at the results of BStreet this year?

:P

I am talking AP1 vs AP2 advantages here, let alone the tire width and major torque advantages of the Vettes.  Any one car could excel at any one course as we all know.

I'm super budget building my car (other than the complete tear down and refresh I have planned over winter) now since I lost so much on my previous vehicles.
