SASC Schools / SASC Winter Driving Schools - Ghost Reservoir Venue Lost
« on: December 05, 2017, 08:39:53 AM »
The SASC is unable to secure use of the Ghost Reservoir for the 2018 Winter Schools. TranslAlta holds title to the reservoir (including the submerged lands) and they feel that the risks associated with our ice driving activities are too high and therefore are not allowing us to continue our schools on their lands.

If folks have other suggestions for potential locations to host these schools please let us know.

Announcements / SASC AGM – Sunday, November 26th @ Noon
« on: September 27, 2017, 02:06:09 PM »
We’re planning to have this year’s AGM on Sunday, November 26th @ Noon at Speeders in the NE. With 136 club members this year and our bylaws requiring a minimum 20% representation at the AGM we need 28 people at the bare minimum to attend. Your attendance is very much appreciated and helps shape the club for the future. There are many important topics to discuss and vote on and the AGM is the venue to accomplish this.

Free lunch will be provided and we will also have a draw for prizes.

If you cannot attend please PM or email me so I can send you a copy of our Proxy form to nominate a member that is attending to vote on your behalf.

I would also like to encourage others to get involved with the club in either an executive capacity or steward capacity. The folks in the president, solo director and secretary positions have agreed to stay on for 2018 however if someone would like to try their hand at one of those executive positions it’s possible. We will be looking for a new Treasurer. The official positions are as follows:

President (executive)
Solo 2 Director (executive)
Treasurer (executive)
Secretary (executive)

Tech Steward
Safety / Sound Steward
Equipment Steward
Novice Steward
Grid / Workers Steward
Registration / Waivers Steward

There are also other folks who don’t hold an official position but are instrumental to the success of this club so getting involved is easy if you’re looking to do so in a more informal way.

An email to confirm attendance will follow in the near future.

General Discussion / Sound Meters
« on: August 28, 2017, 06:37:20 AM »
The club invested in two additional sound meter's, one of which being a costlier, supposedly high performance one as we weren't sure we could trust the results from our original one. We set them all up side by side yesterday At Fort Macleod. Dan tells me that all are reading almost exactly the same. And yesterday was a great day for testing as there was virtually no wind.

SASC Events / July 2nd - Gate Workers Needed
« on: July 01, 2017, 10:22:58 AM »

To help things run smooth in the morning we're looking for 2 people to help us out and work the gate between 7:15-9:30am.

These two people will make sure that drivers and spectators coming in sign the waiver, get a course map and know where to grid/park and make sure they go to register right away. We're expecting a large turnout tomorrow 90+ drivers so we need to be organized right off the hop.

With two people manning the gate the two folks can switch out and take turns walking the course.

But here's the best part, if you work the gate in the morning you're done working for the day.  :D

Registration just opened for the solo tour in Packwood, WA July 7-9   :D

Who's all going? I know Ryan, Cam and Chris are.
