Member Discussion (Private) / Driven 2018 Booth
« on: April 30, 2018, 02:19:45 PM »
Hi all!

Last year we entered a booth in Driven to drum up some interest for the club and we are thinking of doing the same for 2018.  This years show is Saturday, May 26th at the Olympic Oval.

We're seeing if there is any interest for individuals to volunteer on behalf of the club to give info, tell interested parties what we do, where we run, etc. We're looking for around 6 volunteers (2 people for 2 - 3 hour shifts) to be at the booth.

Can you please post here if you are interested/can make it?

Also if you are interested in displaying your car in the booth let us know as well in this thread.

Member Discussion (Private) / 2018 Spring Tire Mail-in Rebates
« on: February 27, 2018, 09:23:38 AM »
I had a friend from a local dealership forward me this as a heads up. Some pretty good rebates out there. As long as you have a valid invoice from periods listed you should be able to claim the rebate from the tire manufacturer.

Announcements / 2018 Season Numbers
« on: January 10, 2018, 09:23:31 AM »
For the 2018 Season the SASC will be cleaning up the racing numbers, a benefit to becoming an SASC member is that you can now reserve a racing number for the duration of the season, so if you’ve ever wanted to purchase a set of magnetic or static cling numbers now you can.

In order to reserve a particular racing number you must:

1.   Have a valid 2018 SASC Membership (https://www.motorsportreg.com/events/southern-alberta-solosport-club-sasc-membership-923684)

2.   Reserve one of the following numbers:
1-199: Reserved Numbers Only (non-members cannot use these numbers)
200-699: Open Numbers (members can also reserve)
700-999: NEW DRIVERS ONLY (have done less than 3 autocross events) (this is so we can easily identify first time, new drivers)
Other numbers (i.e. 1000+ are not permitted)

3.   Numbers will be on a  first come, first served basis (unless you were a regular in 2017 with a consistent number and renew before April 30 - see point #4), please email Chris at Secretary.SASC@gmail.com to reserve a number.

4.   Folks that were members/regulars in 2017 and used a particular number in the 2017 season will have first dibs on that number until April 30th, 2018. If those folks don’t renew their membership by that date and someone with a valid 2018 membership does request that particular number they will lose it.

5.   You can only reserve one number. If you have a co-driver, he or she must also be a member and request that number him/herself

The current list of reserved numbers is as follows:

Details for the Challenge Event will soon be released in the forums.  Cash is king! There's nothing like a cash prize to motivate good competition!

Competitors and other event attendees, should note that in an effort to further develop the SASC's relationship with the surrounding community, certain event guidelines will be strictly upheld for 2017.  As motorsports enthusiasts, it is the goal of the club to not only host motorsports events, but to demonstrate that motorsports activities can be conducted in a responsible, sustainable manner that benefits the surrounding community, and participants everyday driving skills and behavior.  With this in mind, participants and attendees are reminded to be respectful of others both on and off the event site.

In an effort to minimize our impact, in 2017 the club will again strictly enforce a 93db sound limit at all events.

I've been involved in Autox since 2007 so I guess thats around 7 years now. As much as I love driving, I hate waking up early and traveling to venues far outside of the city (haha... hopefully that changes sometime soon).

Although life has gotten in the way somewhat ahead of racing I still make it to the occasional Auto-X. I've done a few chumpcar events in the past but that hobby became far too expensive to continue.

This upcoming year I hope to run my new (to me) Integra Type R at a few Auto-X as well as trying out the Accord on the ice at Ghost Lake as I finally have decent studded tires.
