If you want a good idea of what is involved, read about this ongoing EM build:

This time, he hits me where it hurts, and talks about age :)

I feel rather uncomfortable with the club using radios that aren't completely legal.  We are right next to an active airport, and I know that DOT has people actively checking the airwaves for anything funky.  Radios that transmit at more than FRS legal power levels should probably be avoided.

Or we can just replace our worn out Midland radios with new ones ($65 US a pair):
https://www.amazon.com/Midland-GXT1000VP4-36-Mile-50-Channel-Two-Way/dp/B001WMFYH4/ref=sr_1_5?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1511836916&sr=1-5&keywords=gmrs+radio

Do NOT buy them from Amazon.ca, as the price is ridiculous (over $260 each with shipping charges added).

The Chinese radios look pretty good.

[snip]Interesting -- the radios disappeared from the Amazon web site sometime today.[/snip]

BTW, I don't plan on buying 20 radios all at once.  We can buy 2 or so for testing, and if they work out well, then we can go ahead and buy a bunch more.

Please suggest any good units for the club to buy.  We need about 20 radios, so let's leave out the $200+ units if at all possible.

Technical Talk / Possible change/enhancement to MJTiming software
« on: November 26, 2017, 10:47:50 PM »
Sera mentioned something today that caught my attention.  As it stands with the scoring software, she can choose to run in Ladies or Open, but not both.  This does seem like a barrier that should be removed.

What if I add multiple (say 3?) group fields in registration as opposed to our current one.  That way, a single driver can belong to (and compete in) more than a single group.  As a side effect of this change, I would remove rookie as a separate hard-coded flag and just use one of the groups to designate rookie or veteran.

So, let's say 3 groups:

1st group is for street/street touring/CAM/whatever
2nd group would be for rookie or veteran (or even a 1-2 year rookie)
3rd group would allow designations such as Ladies or "Serious bzness" or "Corvette Club"

Sound like an acceptable enhancement?  Or does this just confuse our scoring system more than it already stands?

Sorry, but Jo and I will be leaving immediately after the meeting -- it is Grey Cup day, and we don't want to miss the game.

Asking for feedback on moving S2000s to CS.

Looks like the ND Miata will have to fight for its wins  in CS :)

For next year's scoring group, I am assuming that the SSC class would be grouped with street touring classes.  Or would street classes be a better fit?

The orange one is owned by Ian B from Edmonton.  If you were at the Fort Macleod event on Aug 26, you would have seen the car running.

All the classes it seems got a lower PAX, well except AM and BM :(

AM always gets a PAX of 1.0, so if everyone got a lower PAX, that means that AM was the one that changed.

Everyone got a reduction of .008 (on average).  AS,BS,CS,HS all got .003 harder compared to this average.

SSC was assigned a PAX .001 harder than CS, but that may because the spec tire is not yet published.
