SASC Events / Re: Sound at SASC Events
« on: July 04, 2017, 12:17:28 PM »
I was one of the marshals running the meter - I was almost apologetic for brushing off the driver that came by to complain while we were manning the meter (please don't do this).  We're competitors as well, and it's not to most complex thing to understand.  You know you're loud - we're not the "sound police" or there to ruin the event.  I really appreciate Wayne's clarification and the others for chiming in - it's not the sound meter or the marshal's fault that your car is loud.

The monitoring was more than fair - come on...a tip pointed away from the meter is spoofing the meter, bot reducing sound pressure!

I hope this wasn't me that you thought was complaining. I was in the #68 car and came by after my final run to see if that box had made any difference to the sound levels and also to see what others were running before heading over to my station. I definitely wasn't complaining, I know my car has hit the sound limits at times in the past.

Is there a way to see the sound readings? Car 193.  Sorry, meant to ask all weekend but didn't think of it again until we were off-site.

Thanks again for having us! Nice people, great site, fun event - just what we were hoping for. :)

I can't comment on the Sunday runs, but I was doing the sound checks on Saturday and if memory serves me right, I don't think you went over 90db, pretty sure it was high 80s.

I have some snapshots of the sound levels that I took with my phone, I don't have all of them as I was just capturing what sound level I was at after the issues I had with blowing over. Need to fix that as it definitely hurt my times, but awesome weekend regardless.

2 of these are from June 17th for both morning and afternoon, and the one without the date is from the morning runs on June 18th. Sorry for the blurry pic on one of them, I wasn't able to really see the screen to see if it was in focus.

Thanks to all that help make this happen. Had a blast yesterday and was happy that I no longer have a coolant issue with thanks to the new radiator.

Awesome day, thanks to all that help put this on.

Looking forward to the next event and new tires next time.

Its a shame to hear that this is the case for Drones now. I also like making videos, and really wanted to get a drone and start getting footage from these events, but after all the rules and regulations that came about, and the hoops you have to jump through to do it legit, it just wasn't worth it. Like said above, it would be easier to hire a helicopter.

SASC Events / Re: Results for November 6, 2016 event at YYC
« on: November 10, 2016, 12:32:50 PM »
Thanks for posting the results! I'm wondering if we can get an "afternoon only" result set please? I swapped tires from RE71R to Pilot Super Sports in the afternoon so I'm trying to get a feel for how good the Super Sports really are (and they are good) but you can't win an autox with them. Plus some of your top drivers were not on their prime tire so that put me more on par with the tires run that day.

FWIW, I was the 2004 STI and was running on 215 width Super Sports and got the following.

Day 1 Set 1  66.300      64.628     (63.475)     64.034
Day 1 Set 2  62.169     (61.057)     61.323      61.679

Was happy to get a 4th place finish (in RAW), but after checking my vids, I could see that by the 2nd or 3rd run, I was starting to remove chunks of tire, so do wonder what kinda time I potentially lost. I love the Super Sports, they are a very capable tire, although I'm gonna move to the RE71R for Autocross in the future.

Finally signed up to say Thanks to all those that help make this happen, these events have been great, and this last one was a nice cherry to put on top of this cake, especially them being in Calgary.

My tires were NOT happy after the last event ;D but now it gives me more reason to ditch these skinny tires and get some nice chunky ones.

I hope we can do more, but even when the weather turns into actual Winter, would it be a possibility to run in the snow/slush in the same parking lot?
