Member Discussion (Private) / Re: Fort McLeod future

acknowledged.  I'm in agreement with moving a couple posts here and will do that from a PC later tonight.

I know the the four executive members have met on the topic and have some ideas for addressing the issue.  Not sure if they have suggestions for what the rest of us can do.

I think it is fair to question cancelling the last school.

If parts of the ice are safe and others are not, can we be confident that students can identify a safe path for themselves when they are not under direct supervision?

Most of us haven't been out to the lake recently, but have seen the video of the truck being winched out.  Unlike previous years, when vehicles have gone through on the western side of the lake during our regular season, this one looks like it went through in an area we pass through regularly

Technical Talk / Re: Heritage Class rules

I find this extremely interesting, but not sure they really thought things through.  The examples they use are English, but Japan and Germany made cars back then too.

Engine may be updated to any available from the manufacturer for that model through its generations.

Does this not allow someone to swap a modern 991 engine into a classic 911? Or a 370Z VQ37 into an S30 Datsun 240Z?  Yes it would still have to use carbs, but modern American carburetors are wonderful.

So much for the English competition?

SASC Events / Re: Scores for October 4, 2015

As per our brief discussion at the AGM, the results could first be posted in a specific event thread, for comments and corrections, and then later attached to a locked and stickied EVENT RESULT post, for record keeping.

Thoughts?

We could save the results as a .pdf or even just .txt and include them as a post attachment.

With the current forum settings, this limits only registered users from seeing results, but I don't think that's a bad thing.

Well it looks like HS is a little less brutal this year.  Gained .002 in PAX :P

Nope -- that's more brutal.  Looks like a lot of classes got hit, some of them pretty hard (e.g. CS).

Just wait until they formally put the ND in there!

General Discussion / Re: 2016 Autocross Season Saturday Test & Tunes

Team events sound fun, but would likely deter new people from getting involved.

Could do a few events where we team new people with the top drivers in the club.  Allows both tighter competition as well as getting even more interaction through the day.

I think that's something that could be pretty fun... with mandatory ride alongs.  :)

It's unlikely that I will make very many local two day events, so have no strong feelings regardless... but as Murray pointed out at the AGM, the casual Saturday test and tune events were drawing a bit of a different crowd from the Sunday events.  We may want to consider catering to that crowd and trying to expand attendance and grow our sport and club.

Team events sound fun, but would likely deter new people from getting involved.

Looks like they've started running day 2 already.

Again, live results here:  http://sololive.scca.com

I talked with a few of the guys after yesterday...

Reijo is in an amazing 6th place out of the 300 something who have run so far, in PAX with only 2 of his 3 runs in CSP because the car broke.  He seemed skeptical that the car would be repaired in time for today, but optimistic that he could find another CSP ride.

Stephen and Murray ran first yesterday and dealt with rain.  Stephen's use of expletives on Facebook suggests it didn't work out in his favour, but he still managed 5th out of 54 in BS.

Ryan and Cam are 6th and 10th in SSR.

Seems like there is plenty of opportunity for trophies.  GL all.

Ha.  It's all subjective.  I thought the food was awesome.   :o

Good event and great competition.  I feel like it would've been nice to have smaller run groups, but I haven't considered how that would have affected work groups.

My only real complaint was the weather on Friday.
