I wasn't trying to start a bashing session about the Fiesta ST being unsafe - I was just trying to let you know that you were running very close to the limit there and might want to focus on keeping body roll under control when considering upgrades or how you prepare your car - I didn't actually think many people checked this thread ;)
You are allowed a sway bar in street, no?  Perhaps it would be worth throwing the stock fiesta bar on there to help keep the front a little more level.  As much as I give you a hard time about beating me all the time I don't want to see anybody get hurt or lose their car.

I would also like to see the street class get downgraded a little bit tire-wise, many of the current autocross tires are just too damn sticky.  I'm often smashing my control arms into the subframe because the tires are stickier than the bushings are hard.

I'll edit and remove this if you want, but I think you need to know - there was daylight under both wheels on one side of your car:

It's kind of hard to get single frames from a youtube video but there was a frame just one away that I couldn't seem to get it to stop on where I think it was more obvious.

That aside, nice video and I can't believe how decent the exposure is for being under your car.  I am also a frequent tripod-er (wait.. I have a feeling that has another meaning) and I was considering doing almost exactly this angle for a video but couldn't reliably get my camera mounted under there.  I was also thinking of doing the opposite, under the front looking back, trying to get the engine and exhaust and everything moving about but also some of the front suspension in frame.

It's no problem at all - the CUCC guys are all going to be prefixing their numbers for the event and running in one group anyway so it's of no consequence that I changed him to be registered as "C5" instead of "5" because that's what he is going into the results as :)

Besides putting numbers on upside-down may be bad luck and you don't need any more bad luck.

Murray - It looks like what happened is that one of the CUCC guys accidentally stole your number.  We're prefixing all of their numbers with a C and he was trying to take C5.  I have corrected his and your registration.

I'm still working to understand the MSR admin system but it looks like I can go in and assign permanent numbers to people.  I'm going to be using a combination of the list you were so kind as to prepare for me and this weekend's registrations to make a first pass of permanent numbers in MSR and see if that makes things easier for next time (i.e. it will prevent somebody from taking somebody else's number).

Don't you guys just chalk the corners of your tires and crank up the pressure until they either stop rolling over or explode?  Tire pressure gauges are overrated ;)

Oh who am I kidding, they never stop rolling over.

It seemed harder than usual to get a good regional series calendar this year. Seemed like everything conflicted with something. I'm just happy to have scheduled as many events as we have. I think the old days of 2-day regionals being the norm are long gone, sadly.

No kidding - I don't understand why but scheduling ANYTHING this year has been difficult.  When it came to booking days at Westerner it seemed like every single one had some kind of problem.  I had to juggle one compromise against another constantly.

Sorry the schedule is such a mess this year but let's try to make the best of it! :)

Since both days are practice days I would expect a pretty similar number of runs on both days.  The collaboration with the Corvettes Unlimited Club of Calgary is not going to impact the format of the event, only the number of entrants and possibly it will impact the distribution of people into run groups slightly.

I wouldn't expect a difference in number of runs between the 2 days.  Typically we wrap up between 3:15 and 4:00 on a normal day so having to finish and clear the lot at 4pm does not change things much.  We have more cars Sunday (so far 3 more but that is likely to change) but slightly less time Saturday.  I think any difference in number of runs will be a result of how we run the event that day as opposed to the outside constraints placed on the event.

Does that answer your question or am I just rambling?

The event is only a week away and so far we only have 10 registered for June 4, and 12 for June 5.

Reijo - Thanks for taking the time to share your experiences from the larger scale US events.  I have not had the chance to attend any of them and I am always very curious about how they handle many things.

I don't think we are currently in a position to cut off on-site registration (speaking only for the CSCC here) but it is the sort of thing I would like to work towards.  Ideally we would have a finalized list at least a couple days before the event and be able to plan accordingly.  If we are able to locate a larger scale venue closer to Calgary (Badlands...?) I could see our registration numbers exceeding 100 and that would require lots of organization and precise execution on our part to make sure everybody has a good time.  It is important to start getting these procedures figured out while we still have the ability to screw it up without ruining an event.

I had already planned a marshal sign up sheet however you thought of a few things I hadn't so if you don't mind I'm stealing a couple of your ideas for my events :)

117
Reijo - what was your plan for getting the sheet filled out?  Have some things pre-prepared (i.e. setup, registration, etc.) and assign all of the course, grid, start/stop, etc. marshal positions after the run groups are selected?

I see a couple of things I wouldn't have thought to list on the sheet so I'm glad you posted that.  For example, I like the idea of keeping track of who was running timing during each run group.

How has nobody bought this yet?!

I'm curious to see what Reijo has come up with.

I was considering implementing marshall sign-up sheets for this year, I wanted to make the changeover time a bit shorter by being able to call people by name to their stations, or if absolutely necessary bring my wrath down upon people who are habitually late to their stations.  The problem I have is the one above - it is difficult to get people to sign up since they would have to sign up after the driver's meeting to know what run group they are in.  I was planning to get the rookies to sign up first, one per station, then they could head out on the rookie course walk and we could let the veterans decide who wants to work with who and spend a few minutes dividing themselves up while the rookie course walk takes place.

As for dividing people into classes, I don't feel like there was any significant difficulty or delay in breaking the crowd into 2-3 run groups based on class using Murray's software.  If anything I was the problem, I didn't direct people to separate enough or direct non-drivers to leave the group so we could double check numbers after we divide everybody up kindergarten style.  I am hoping to improve that at our events this year.

As far as I know the WCMA regional series is not yet finalized.  I was approached by them to convert one of the CSCC events to a WCMA regional but there were some issues that needed to be resolved regarding the date they chose.  I am not sure if there were any other issues or if I'm the one holding it up, but hopefully we'll get things figured out soon!
