Thanks Murray!
It was a great day - fun course, fabulous weather, and I still had enough rubber left to drive home (barely.)  ;D

I really liked the setup.
  • My only beef was the long trek to the grid, I felt it slowed down the day a bit (compared to having grid near the paddock, making it a tich easier for turnover between groups.)
  • Speed-wise it was great - fast and fun, with enough tight elements you really needed to get on the brakes
  • I'll echo the start box comment, it was great... as much as I'd like to moan about not getting to launch the car like a banshee. ;)
  • The stop box was very satisfying - easy entry and loads of space to slow
  • I'd love to have gotten more runs in, but the 9am gate opening makes that challenging with a hard stop at 5pm
A great way to ease back in after a few years off. :)

One thing to consider would be to put together a nice package with our rental proposal - that's something I could help with.

A piece like that would help us look like we've got it together, help deal with any reservations potential landlords could have with allowing a racing group to use their property.

Ryan did some looking around, spotted a possible location owned (or leased, we can easily find out) by Hansen's Forwarding. It's just off Ogden Road, near Glenmore. One issue is the pavement doesn't look like it's in great shape when I zoom in. Not sure if the company would be amenable to renting the space.

I've included an image of the YYC lot for comparison.

Current YYC lot:

Ryan and I would love to attend, but we're out of town that weekend. :(

We've been living on borrowed time for a while now - I was wondering why a developer hadn't snapped up the land.

Best start looking for an alternate location now, even though it could take a couple/few years for anything to change. Hopefully Badlands will be open by then! :)

We all know I *love* PAX.  ;D

Chris is very nice and told us to pop the 205 into one of the more appropriate street classes. So I run SM. By which I mean "ignore PAX and look at where I am in the RAW standings." To be fair, my car is unusually quick for what it is, putting it in Street Mod is pretty appropriate.

Thanks Cam!

And thanks to everyone for helping out on Sunday - it was wonderful to have such a huge group of new people!

Converse shoes are my favourite to drive in - good edges for easy heel & toeing, but thin enough that there's plenty of feel. And cheap!

I think your definition of cheap and my definition don't have any common ground :)  My current driving (and everything else) shoes cost me $30 at Payless.

Hey, Converse are only ~$50-$60 - that's dirt cheap by lady shoe standards! Especially compared to a purpose-built driving shoe.  ;)

I've got the printables, will hand off to Chris on Friday.
I cut 120 copies - think that'll be enough?

Come one, come all!

This is going to be a great event, bonus points for bringing some friends along. Double extra bonus points if they're ladies!

Ironically I absolutely hated Pumas, they're too rounded at the edge. In a car with pedals *just* close enough for me to heel and toe it meant slipping off the gas a few times while trying to blip and brake. And I can't stand the spongy feel of a runner/training shoe.
