Timing is in place (Murray is coming out with timing gear and radios.  Thanks Murray!) and since this is a timed event, we will need helmets.  Club has a few helmets for loaners.

I think I may set up a big G-circle for test 'n tune and teaching purposes near the pits ... maybe even a short course???

So, this will be a regular ice dice/solo on ice ...

Open to CSCC People?  I'm in maybe +1

Yes, this is open to anyone.  I know of some non-members who may be showing up.

I signed up for novice, but was wanting to sign up for the L2 school as well. Wasn't able to select both on motorsportreg, but if you can mark my interest for it, please do.

Hmmmm.....I had that problem before and thought I fixed it ..... strange.  Some setting must be off etc ... ugh....will check it out over the next day or two.

Update:  I added L2 to the pkg.

Thanks!

From what I can see there are only 9 people signed up for the school, with only 7 days left before entry is closed. Is this accurate?

Assuming 9 people is not enough to hold the school; is there a Plan B? I'd be willing to split the cost of renting the venue with the people signed up, and perhaps a few more, for the chance at LOTS of practice runs.

I could extend the date.  And I just posted about the schools on Edmonton and CSCC forums (I'm behind on "stuff") today ... so I'm expecting some more entries as they get known.

Otherwise, we could certainly set something up ... and in fact I have been planning and plotting some other options for years actually.....that I think I will bring to be this year ... something to get us all to a higher level in our driving .... stay tuned.

If you are an instructor or helper from this year, just use the pay-at-site option and we will not charge you.  Otherwise $20 to enter.

BTW, we just got our instructor jackets in.  If there are new instructors or you don't have a jacket, we will have them at the lake on Sunday.  (Thanks Tom G.!)

Just in case I put the insurance in place  - no extra cost since we pay a yearly rate btw.

Just realized I had not posted on this forum specifically about this.

Suggestion:  Free for all instructors from the winter schools.

Nominal fee for others (TBD) ... say $20.

Timing ... or maybe just a lapping day at worst?  Course would be a variation (a few "key" changes) of the last one ... over 5 km. long ... longer than Race City.

Who's in?

I had heard about the 4 cyl. Camaro and did not pay any more attention to it.....kinda like the 6 cyl Camaros and Mustangs back in the 60's.  But this one is a different beast!   5.3 sec. 0-60 mph, 14.0 sec. 1/4 mi. at 100 mph (btw, that is the same as the S2000!).....and the same as the 1970 Chevelle 454!

Hmmmm......and $26k they say in this article.....over 30 mpg ... 200 lbs or so lighter with a cast aluminum engine, and, of course, decent suspension (independent all around) with big tires/wheels/wheelwells .... There is something to this!

I would consider one ...

Scroggs was 3rd in PAX ... no mean feat .... DS Camaro with the turbo 4-cylinder.  Interesting.

They limited the registration to 200 drivers (no idea why), and filled it completely.

Oh, right ... like the Pros ... can handle only so many if you have the shoot-out in the afternoons.  In a sense it is a half-event or so ... so max. 200 ...

Yeah, some key names were missing ... like the Berry family.  The Match Tour does not seem to be as popular as the regular Tours ... San Diego Tour used to get 300 or more entries typically.

Super fast course, with lots of 3rd gear.  There wasn't much time difference between BS, CS, STS
(http://sololive.scca.com/SATURDAY/index.php), although the NC that won CS was a good bit faster than everyone else.  Gearing?

CS: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vqRNsfMDJKE
BS: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vsIfWgoNtfg

Max was in 4th in an NC (CS) and he has won Nats a couple of times in the past ... I think Scott Lewis (don't know him) may have figured out something in the course that no one else did or had better car prep etc.  Basically he beat Max by 0.5 or so sec. on each day ... so consistent on that basis.

SASC Schools / Winter School/events Finale anyone?
« on: March 04, 2017, 11:09:07 AM »
With the weather and ice holding out, is there interest in another school next weekend (just over a week - March 12?)? I know some people have emailed me ... or maybe an appreciation ice dice for our helpers and instructors (free for them) and open for members etc? Just gaging interest right now. Let me know!

Correct, we tentatively determined that if we had 12 championship events (4 @ each venue) we would go with best 7/12, minimum 2 at each venue

Any idea when this will be decided? If there are 12 championship events, does that mean that both days of the two-day events at YYC will count?

Speaking purely selfishly for myself, I won't be able to come out as often this year, and definitely won't be able to make both days on any given weekend, so I'd prefer a smaller number of championship events and not to have weekends where both days count.

This was decided at the last executive meeting.  All of the days count as a single event except practice events.  We may be adding more practice days and maybe an event or two at a new venue, plus the 5 or so at the Westerner so there are more events than ever to choose from to get 7 events in, min. of 2 per venue (in order to get people to try the various venues ... except the new one - tba).

As for Fort Macleod, the time limit for the comments from the public expired on Saturday, Feb. 25, so I imagine we will hear very soon after the council meeting on Monday, Feb. 27 ... so any day I would imagine.  There are no minutes on their web site since Jan. 23/17 as of right now ...
