My Miata has 17x7 wheels, and 225 fits fine.  However, I dropped down to 215 width and have seen no change in performance.

I agree with the others -- stay in HS.  ST* classes require a huge investment to be competitive, and a partial prep for the class will never work.

This is true.  Although you'd be STF not STS which isn't a huge penalty I think at 0.800 Pax.

If I had my time over I'd go with the spring/koni combo instead of the coilovers and stay in HS.

peak speed 95kph out of the corolla.  Almost kissed the fence on that last run though....oops.

Fastest time was a 44.3 which I was pretty happy with and had a reasonably tight spread from 44.3 to 45.7 in the last 12 runs.  Ready for Fat Kat!

I will come from work again and be there around 4.30 to help set up or help with registrations.  What's the decision on the final format for this event Reijo?  1 course 2 run groups?  2 courses?

JCS - I don't know how you could get 15runs with 2-3 ride along? I was sitting at the grid the whole time, and no lineup when I pull up to the course, and I could only barely got 6.   ::)

Maybe the grid guys really like you! LoL

Maybe.  I dunno I had 6 runs on the sweeper and 3 runs on the slalom in videos plus the 3 race runs.  And I ran that FRS I think twice on slalom and once on sweeper.  So whats that = 9 + 3 + 3 = 15 runs.

I had a ride along with Brock, maybe I only had one ride along:)

It doesn't change what I was really trying to explain above which is the math does work to get 15 runs if you had run it as three run groups with 30 min on each course + work.

if you look at the slalom (28-31 second course) running cars every 15 seconds if you had 12 cars queued up there for 30 minutes you should in theory be able to give most people  10 runs.  Unrealistic though, and more likely is 7-8.

if you had 12 cars on the sweeper course with the overlap (31-38 second course) running cars 30 sec apart because of the overlap, in 30 minutes should get 5 runs in 30 min.

I was proposing earlier when registering folks that your work group would dictate your run group.  do 30 min on slalom, 30 min on sweeper, 30 min on work.

Based on the above in the hour of seat time you would get 8-10 runs on slalom and 5ish runs on sweeper. 13-15 runs maximum in the 1 hour TNT + 3 runs in the race session.

This would make the queuing more simple to maintain as well as you could make sure even numbers were going to each course through the evening and just every 30 minutes you rotate to the next station/track.  I guess this distracts from those who wanted to focus on certain aspects though.

The alternative is the final track was 30-40 seconds but we were steadily running cars through it ever 20 seconds.  If we had run two run groups on the one big track for the whole night.  say 90 minutes and 90 minutes then in theory 20 cars running 20 seconds apart for 90 minutes.  means you're pumping all cars through every ~7minutes with I guess 5 minutes between runs.  Enough to make some adjustments.  everyone gets 10-13 runs in 90 minutes.

I'm not sure how at 40 cars you give people more seat time than that.  For what its worth between riding with folks and driving I'm pretty sure I got in close to 15 runs driving and 2 or 3 ride alongs.  I was happy with it.

TLDR version:  Last nights format but with specific run groups would give you up to 18 runs total across all course setups.

Full Lap - 35.1 sec run (fastest was 34.5)
https://youtu.be/4LOb8_RTie0

Slalom - 28.x sec

Sweeper Course - 36.1 sec

My telemetry typically is 1-2 seconds off the timing gear as my time starts when the car starts moving not when I cross the beam.

Lots of fun, and I really enjoyed the sweeper course.

My run.....I left time all over the place!!!!  I'm sure I could of broken into the 79's.  Of interest, if Paul was doing 150 into the finish, I couldn't get to 100!!!!!

For those who missed it and for discussion purposes, here's the course map from Sunday.

I'm just curious what elements you found interesting, not so interesting, good, bad, ugly, fun, challenging or whatever other adjective you might think of.

For myself I threw in the 3-"eye-brow" Chicago box about 1/2 way down the runway and quite enjoyed that challenge.  I was never really sure exactly how fast I could go through there since it looked slower than it was.  I think I got it fairly nailed down but wasn't sure if I was as fast as I could have been .... A few more runs through it to experiment might have been useful I think. I was also surprised how much the course was on-off the throttle at the sweepers all the way to the end and back.....but found it fun and challenging.

R

Those offset eyebrows from one edge of the runway to the other and then into the 3 eyebrow Chicago Box seemed to really trip people up (myself included) I saw more slides than I could count through there.

That was arguably the fastest finish we've ever had, I think Paul T in his 997 Turbo said he was crossing the line just shy of 150km/h and I had to be close to that also as I was well into 3rd gear.

Very challenging course for sure and definitely tough to stay focused for the full run especially towards the end of the day. I really need to clean things up, I think I hit 5 cones on my last run  :-\

I need more power.  But you've got a long way to go to catch me on the cone killer count for the series.  The swing from one side of the runway to the other was the only element that tripped me up and the first tight right hander coming out of the hair pin was costing me time too.  I'll try throw a video up and look for some feedback.  I feel like I left a good 2-3 seconds out there.  I even think maybe if I was less aggressive i'd be faster... a couple more runs I think I would of found it.  Still fun pushing the corolla as hard as I can.

Best Raw for me this year & maybe ever.  Was interesting to see everyone's tires go greasy in the afternoon heat and short times between runs.  Few found any substantial time savings in the afternoon despite no course changes.

Presumably Murray will update overalls when he's back from Packwood.

It's one of the worst results for me.  That bloody hair pin hurts my times so much!! Need more torque, more power, better 0-80k[h time.  Of particular interest though I peaked at 87kph in the slalom which is the fastest I've driven a slalom in the corolla.

You must be serious about wanting a Toyota, Honda, import - otherwise, just go buy Chris's Focus for $1500 and run the crap out of it until you improve as a driver.  You'll spend at least that much modding a daily to get it where you want - 40-50% in tires alone!

^^^^^^^^ This

That Focus is about 5 seconds faster than my 2017 Mazda 3 and I will spend at least $1500 trying to close that 5 second gap.  If I had $1500 and somewhere to store that thing Id have already bought it myself.  If you have the option, take that Focus and you'll learn so much more in seat time than trying to mod something else to go faster.  You will save a ton of money this way and last I checked money doesn't grow on trees, unless your holding out on us :P

This is pretty good advice, especially since the focus comes with a set of RE71R.

What happens in the case of a break out.

Competitor 1 dials in 59.00 at 0.818

Competitor 2 dials in at 61.00 at 0.787

Competitor 1 runs 58.5 (47.853 pax) Competitor 2 runs 61.1 (48.07xx)

If competitor 1 had run the 59.00 then their pax would be 48.2 and they lose.....how does this scenario work.
