CBSA never bothers to check the country of origin.

They will if it's easy, like tires, where it's moulded right in to the sidewall.  But otherwise you're right.

I'm in the construction world - no sign of Airport Tr. coming out to bid though we suspect they were waiting for the City's budget meetings last week, and then it will take a few weeks to filter through the departments and get sent out the door.  Then it's too close to Christmas to close this year so wouldn't be awarded until late January at best.  I'll keep you posted if I hear anything else but can comfortably see the lot being available until spring right now.  Nobody will mobilize until the snow is gone.

Packwood says July 26-28 on the linked page but then July 19-21 on the event page  ???

I put that on my calendar - not sure I'm at that level or can even make the schedule work but it would be a good experience.

Had a great time today, thanks everyone.  Was a particular treat to see Paul T, Cam and Brock pushing while out marshalling.

you may wish to try Flickr.  I've used it trouble-free for about a decade, and it's what Ian G uses as well.

Signed up for Sunday in the Japanese Race Truck.  Never got out this year due to busy personal life, looking forward to it!

Have asked a friend to come as well - if he does sign up we'd both need to be tech'd but should have no issue passing.  He would need a loaner helmet.

Stettler is no further from my place than Ft. Macleod for what it's worth.  Cardston is considerably further.  That said all three are really just too far for me to bother unfortunately, but that's my personal feeling/situation.

A few years back in talking to the CSCC, I suggested seeing if there would be some way to partner up with the Calgary West Soccer Center.  Theory being that they currently have a undeveloped, flat gravel lot which is largely clear of posts, concrete, landscaping etc.  Location is tucked away on an industrial road beside the train tracks, but in the city and on the ring road.  I ran the math on sound-decay to the nearest houses and it gets down to background-noise levels.  They have a lot more land than what the lot currently occupies so a larger space could be paved.  I would presume that their busy season is the winter while Sundays during the summer might be quiet while people are playing on outdoor fields.  A lot of conjecture, but finding and existing paved lot within city limits is quite probably unattainable.  Paving is expensive, but the club is a registered non-profit with a financial track-record.

What would be a good estimate for minimum lot size?

I'm pretty sure it's too small, and a long shot but if you look at satellite view of Spruce Meadows on google maps it looks like they've been hosting something auto related in lot 7 or 8.

Actually both those lots are quite large - bigger than Red Deer for sure.  Good find.

I've said it before but I'll say it again - we need to make friends with Tsuu T'ina.  They are open for business, not bound by city bylaws for noise or Nimbys, and have lands right on the ring road.  Maybe even an extension to the Grey Eagle area is all that we'd need, however they have plans for many things along the SWCRR when that is completed.

In turn we provide steady, regular usage, possibly even through the winter as Ice-Dice is seemingly dead as well.  Other user groups can book the lot for driver/motorcycle training, car shows, etc.

...where do you suggest if Facebook is not young person friendly?

I don't have the answers on that.  Instagram seems to be the preferred social media at the moment, mainly because so much less garbage is forced on to your feed.  But that's a problem for you if you're trying to advertise.  People pretty much need to be following your account to get any information you are publishing.

Does Lethbridge's Street Machines weekend have any opportunity for booths etc?  I think that's already passed for this year but might be the most visual way to get in front of a lot of local car people at the same time.  Facebook is kindof dying, at least with younger people; it's pretty awful for a whole bunch of reasons.
