Badlands Update
« on: July 29, 2015, 02:32:46 PM »
Are there any updates on Badlands? Last I heard they got the land successfully re-zoned and were waiting for a development permit. The last update on their website is from Feb http://www.badlandsmotorsportsresort.com/project-updates/.

Q and Jay from yesterday  CSCC forum:

Quote from: Cueman on July 23, 2015, 06:24:26 PM
That is unlikely to be the case but the project is very much alive.  Final details for the Comprehensive Site Development Plan are still in the process of being sorted.  There are a number of parties involved relating to various aspects of the development (environment, traffic, architecture, local municipalities etc) and coordinating them all and making adjustments and tweaks to the plan takes time.  I'm sure we can all appreciate that this isn't as simple as buying land and laying asphalt.

Jay may have more detail to add, but I'm fairly certain that the most recent news item on their website from February of this year is still relevant.

Jay:
Yes, Badlands is very much alive but at this point it's not just our County we have to deal with.  There are 4 provincial agencies we have to deal with in addition to our County.  Our original anticipated start date for Construction in fall 2015 is not looking likely now, but we are now hopeful for an Spring 2016 Construction start date, but this is all dependent on factors beyond our control.

RMPs suggestion of a 2016 Construction date is highly optimistic. They would have needed their Environmental work to begin this past spring, and given that a site has not been purchased and they are still looking at various options based on their release, that date seems impossible based on our experience.

Welcome!

Ironically enough, it was "hidden" in the Rockyview thread.   :)
