Miatas are probably about the easiest on tires of all cars ... and especially in STS trim because you can run more camber ...  The camber will be good for autox wear (most of your wear) and not so good for long distance highway trips.

agreed, but i'm thinking for the next year or two a tiny cheep utility trailer will be my best bet... i don't need many tools and i don't own a air tank... I don't even have a electric ugga dugga i'm just going to be doing the swaps by hand... so a bigger trailer is not really a necessity as of right now... but maybe a goal for the future when i can actually start taking more serious trips to the usa.

now for question#2 do you need to have a utility trailer with a vin and registration or is a small trailer like that above the law?

The utility trailers from stores etc. will have VIN's and you will need a plate from Registries. (permanent trailer plate - buy once).

My trailer was custom-made so there is no VIN.  BTW, it is quite short/small.
