Big change for 2015 will be no R-Comps in Street (Stock) classes right? 200 Treadwear minimum?

Except for SSR, although that may be short lived by the sounds of it.  I believe that need to have a higher turnout at Lincoln for the class to stay in place.

The treadwear thing kills me. Got basically brand new RE-11s with the 180 treadwear from last year but its not allowed despite being identical to the 2015 RE-11s with 200 treadwear  >:(

I'm wondering if there is any interest in discussing a local rule to deal with this situation.  I know that there are a few brands that appear to have taken the approach of simply rebadging their previous model.  The other sides of the issue is this change has been fairly well publicized for over a year.  There would be some events (Such as Canadian Nationals) when we would not be able to have a local exception.  What are peoples thoughts on the matter?

I think the biggest problem will be figuring out which models changed only the treadwear rating and which had a compound change as well.

For local (club) events, I don't really care.  As Stuart mentioned, the exemption cannot be applied for regional and national events.

Yes, we can make an exception for local club events (I would be ok with that .... however I don't have a dog in this fight as they say).   Also let's not forget that these tires will be another year older .... that much harder .... (gee, they might meet the 200 threadwear rating now?   You think?) ... that much less competitive.   Fresh tires will likely be faster anyway.

I still don't understand why the government or someone has brought in a standardized tire test procedure...

The government left it to the tire companies.  For most people what matters is how long the tires last:   Will they last 100,000 km. or more?

And,then there is us.  ;)

I'm lucky if I get more than 10,000 km. out of a set of street tires ..... or maybe 50 runs x 1 km. = 50 km. for a set of Hoosiers!   LOL

My personal worst was 4000km out of a set of street tires.  Most other ones last me 10-15000km for a tire like the Z11 or RS-3.

Should I add a poll to this thread to see if people are OK with allowing sub 200 UTQG tires provided same make/model this year is rated at 200 or above?

Seems like we an make an executive decision to accept them.  If anyone is going to oppose it, it would be I who sold perfectly sized 140AA R1R's in October.

I think the National Championship will have to revert to the real rule, but otherwise I think it's fine...

...unless we are making exceptions for Hoosiers or V710's too...

National and regional level events will have different requirements over the club events where we can say what goes ... as might be expected.  SCCA Tours and Nationals goes without saying ...
