Looks like the ND Miata will have to fight for its wins  in CS :)

I agree. I see they're moving Golf R (2015-2017) from BS to DS as well.

Anybody know where i could find rules around STH?
I see they've now introduced a list of cars that are eligible for this class but I thought maybe I could review the old rules to get an idea of whats allowed in the class.

If they move the RS/R/STi from BS into DS there is going to be some mighty upset WRX owners.

It would be really nice if there was more than one car to choose from in CS.

Damn if they dump the STi, Golf R and Focus RS into DS with my WRX I won’t be very happy.

Thats interesting though cos I've been toying with bringing my E36 M3 out next season.
Turns out it falls into DS as well. :o

Somehow I think the M3 is at a huge disadvantage :-\

A few misunderstandings here.

I see they're moving Golf R (2015-2017) from BS to DS as well.

To clarify, they're asking for member feedback on moving the Golf R and the other cars. Sometimes things are put out for member comment and then shot down completely -- for example, a few years ago the elimination of H Street was floated and then rescinded. Sometimes things are put out for member comment, then modified significantly based on that member comment before being finalized -- for example, the first draft of the Street class rules allowed camber adjustments and changing both front and rear sway bars.

There's no guarantee that the Golf R, or any of the other cars mentioned, will end up moving.

It's not. It's off the pace in even the current DS, let alone in the proposed one. Sometimes cars are put in a class because they're too fast for the class below -- the M3's quite possibly too fast for ES or GS. Sometimes cars are put in a class because they don't fit the philosophy for the class below -- the M3's nothing like the hot hatches that make up GS, and not much like the lightweight roadsters that make up ES. And sometimes cars are put in a class and then left there to die because they're too old, almost none of them are brought out anymore, and the SAC and SEB aren't willing to accept any risk of them becoming a car to have. The newest E36 M3 will be 19 years old by the time the proposed changes could take effect -- it's safe to say it will never be allowed to be a class leader again.

Appreciate the responses @pedalfaster.

To be honest, I'm still learning how to read Fastrack.
To me, it feels like things are repeated, then i realize some are proposals & further down there are responses to some of the letters received etc. To say the least, I find it confusing but like anything new, I'll eventually figure it out & get used to it. ;D

Eitherway, I may bring the car out just once next year for an event which will not count toward championship. I'm curious to see how it will perform.

Also, thanks for the link for STH. I see specifications for wheel & tire sizing but nothing for swaybars or camber plates. Has that not been decided yet or should I be looking elsewhere?

Review the SCCA Street Touring rule set...
All should be revealed in there. STH is a subset within Street Touring starting 2018. Basically suspension is pretty wide open in ST classes.

You're correct. To clarify my response -- the E36 M3 is indeed in DS. The point I was responding to specifically was "the stock E36 M3 is expected to perform similar to these modern cars". 

I don't think anyone of the SAC thinks the M3's fully a match for cars like the FR-S and Camaro 2.0T, even though they're all in the same class. Since the E36 M3's old, and not particularly popular for autocross anymore, the SAC would have wanted to class it conservatively. DS was was the best compromise between the M3 not being hopelessly outclassed like it was in CS, and it being a potential overdog in ES or GS.
