Michelle is great. Nice to see it finally open up to ECE ratings. Makes all my motorcycle helmets legal now.

SASC Events / Re: Results for October 8, 2016 event at YYC

Oh, one more thing!

I wouldn't have thought to ever ask this before, but how do cones count when they shatter?  Do we go by the biggest remaining piece?  I saw one where the base was run over smashing off one corner which flew well out of the box, but enough of the base remained for the majority of the cone to remain upright and within the box.  I assume that didn't count but how much of the cone has to leave the box (separated from the cone that remains within the box)?  50.0001%?

Cool question!

I think the answer has to be something that does not depend on a judgement call on the marshal's part.  Just like going to the left of a pointer cone, but hitting a cone.  It doesn't matter what side of the car hit the cone, the fact that you hit it means that you were on course.

So, probably something along the line of "if any part of the cone base is still inside or touching the chalked box, then no penalty accrues"

I saw the volvo in front of me do it (one of the drivers in Andy's car), where the "cone" went sideways, but the entirety of the base was unmoved, in the box. I laughed. I was still on the start line when it occured.

Technical Talk / JDM Mini Class discussion
« on: October 06, 2016, 01:09:23 PM »
I've previously talked to members of other groups (CSCC, ASC) regarding classing of my JDM mini, as well as Rick with his mini, and it was my understanding that since there wasn't a "Canadian equivalent" sold here, it's put into SM as a catch all for JDM cars. I've been classing that way, but it's extremely frustrating when I'm not only dead last in RAW, but in PAX as well, when I'm in the same class as S15's and turbo swapped subaru's.

I was trolling through the SCCA rules, where the Austin Mini is classified as HS, and was specifically looking at the "Catch-all" rules. Based on what I'm seeing, I should be in the catch all "FSP" based on my mods (rather than SM or EP), which is a pax of 0.840 vs 0.870. I know since I'm not participating in the regional it doesn't even matter, but I don't like the idea of being called out on purposely mis-classing my car.

It seems like the modified Austin's end up in FSP regardless I'd be pushed out of STS based on my mods), and apparently JDM subaru's are also put into ASP rather than SM as well.

Really, I want to know if I enter my mini as FSP instead of SM, if anyone would be upset.

And probably a lot of vehicle changes at registration too.... If it is really 3 degrees and raining I'll be bringing my daily driver instead of the focus.

Ditto. If it's too cold, I'll be either running the DD on A/S tires, or the mini on A/S tires. If it's warmer, I'll be bringing the S2k on PSS.

Nope. I moved to a place with a garage, and now that I have the room to actually work on it, it's getting a mini-rebuild.

Blame the motor mount. Too much torque flex meant you couldn't put it all down to the ground ;)

Your last name was spelled "Ivi.." for the last event (missing "r").  So, you ended up being a different person this event...

Register online using MSR.  Doing it at the event leads to these sort of errors and rework.

I did register online, but they didn't have it on site. I registered on Tuesday.
Either way, this is Shane's fault.

Coned away my best run =(

In the overalls, I don't have a score for sunday.

EDIT: I see why... I'm split into 2 people.

Send me a PM and I'll fix it up.
Always check to see if your name is spelled correctly -- a change in spelling gets you split into two people.

PM Incoming. Same name on both, no idea how it happened.

GrantC in Edmonton discovered the same thing with NAPA axles. He had it snap on a launch, but it took out the ABS ring with it.
