Thanks for the suggestions Stephen, we'll chase down your ideas too (Dallin was going to post up on Facebook after we made the events public last night). I did email everyone with a 2021 membership yesterday morning, so we did get it out to everyone already a member, but a facebook post with a 'see the members section' note and a 'not a member, get one here...' could push to a few more memberships (although I do have to add new members so they can see the members only section here - so get your membership soon:)).

Hi John, I registered for my membership last night and when I went to register for this event the member early discount code wasn't working. Is there a need to manually enter the membership on the backend of msreg that allows the code? Thanks Duane

Just thought I'd share my recent discovery. I've typically used Mothers R3 Racing Rubber Remover to remove cone scuffs and it works very well but it is aggressive, it definitely takes off any paint sealant or wax you may have had on the car in that area. Recently I was removing bug guts from the front with Turtle Wax Bug & Tar Remover and noticed it took cone marks out like butter and it doesn't seem to be nearly as harsh.
What do you know about hitting cones?

With the break in the season, it seemed like a good time to switch up the wheels. I have an set of 15x8 4x100 Te37sl's on the block. I have linked the kijiji add below as it has plenty of shots for you to look at on these lovely wheels. The wheels are wrapped in mostly spent (I'll be rolling on them all summer until they are dead or theres a buyer) Pirelli P-zero Trofeo R's in a 205/50 and a 225/50 staggered fit. I can't fit a 15 to match the overall outer diameter of the stock wheel/tire combo, and I run out of gear in second too soon. Never heard of the Sl's? Picked myself up a BRZ last fall and was really looking forward to having it out this season! Hopefully everyone is staying safe out there and we can figure out a way to get together this summer / fall.

How difficult logistically was it to have grid on the runway instead of on the pad?
Remember to have the porta-potties placed down at the pit+grid area Outside of that, it seemed pretty normal.
The lack of overlap is the biggest issue:
1. Plan on shorter courses than you usually do
2. Plan on this design only for events with low attendance (perhaps have 2 designs on hand and flip depending on attendance)
I actually really enjoyed the layout this event. The course was awesome, grid was comfortable (sometimes grid is a bit cramped in the usual spot), and the turnaround had more room to play (heck, there was room to add a chicago box over there). The only drawbacks I saw was how long some people had to walk to get to stations.... and since I had sound close to the exit again (big surprise there lol), It didn't affect me. As Murray said, the turnout numbers have to be lower to get the desired runs in due to the lack of overlapping cars. Thanks to all for another awesome event. I loved the course. Here's everyones sound levels for the day. A grain of salt about the readings; the sound measurement was on a grassy hill, and about 7 feet up from ground level. Since sound was a topic this weekend, and I have yet to show my setup off, I thought I'd follow up here. I needed a way to cut some sound but allow the needed flow from my exhaust. Here is my solution. I added an external basket to the exhaust instead of stuffing it. The reasoning was that stuffing an exhaust will create back pressure as the exhaust has nowhere to go but through the stuffing, so an external basket would allow me to increase the span the exhaust can vacate from the exhaust tip while only incrementally adding to back pressure. I made a double layer basket and sandwiched in the steel wool around the whole assembly. This layer really doesn't need to be too thick, and I have actually found that this alone got me where I needed to be sound wise. I can also fill the basket loosely to add to the sound diffusion. I safety wired the basket together and also wired the hose clamp to the basket, so that it will stay on the exhaust as I want it to. Adding the basket or adding stuffing can be done in minutes between runs and allows for incremental changes as needed. It was a long out of town outing so I'm posting them now. Firstly a little preamble though. The sound setup was run initially about 65 ft off the driving line, and within the first few runs (read; first group, first run, first few cars) of cars we are familiar with the sound levels with, we determined that the readings were consistently high by a few dB. At that point we added 5 feet to the measured distance, and by the second run our baseline cars seemed more in line with previous event measurements. The second group of more modified cars seemed to be reading higher in general, however when I compared to my cars sound from saturday (Also in second group) to previous events I was on par. My car likely has more runs on sound this year than any, as I have run baseline tests outside the city on a couple occasions to test the setup, my car, and fixes I've done to my car because of it's sound level. For the second set we moved the sound station back an additional 30~ feet do to changes in the course and how open it had gotten at the finish. This brought the measurements to 50 feet from the pavement edge irrespective of where the edge of the course is on the pavement. Since these changes were made on a live track, I wasn't able to get the exact distance from the driving line, but I would put it in the range of 85-95 ft. To move forward the 50 feet from the pavement standard will likely be standard we follow. I encourage all to recognize that dependant on where the exit is on the course from one event to the next, that location can add or remove an additional 20-30ft to the measurement at a venue like Airdrie. That extra 20-30 feet can create variations in measurements of your specific car at the same venue. If your car is blowing high 80's and into the 90's, I recommend that preparations be made ahead of time to add sound deadening to an exhaust if needed. I'd be happy to share how I did mine (easily added and removed between runs) if ideas are needed, and I have a ton of wire grating that I encourage you to come get from me to get it out of my garage. Sound measurements have a lot of variables including (but not limited to) altitude, humidity, cloud cover, temperature, barometric pressure, wind, course setup, amount of grass vs pavement between the car and sound and safety of the sound team. We can see changes occur as the weather changes through the course of one event. All that said and done. Here's the results. Hi Team,
I will be absent this next event and will need to ask someone to step forward and setup the sound for it.
The instructions on setup are available in the binders (In the backpack) and taped to the back of the clipboard (also in the backpack). Previous events are on the back of the paper stack on the clipboard, and can be used as an example on how to setup the sheets, however they are pretty self explanatory.
Sera and Richard have the backpack with everything needed, and I'm available for questions for whomever decides to volunteer.
Many thanks ahead of time for the person that decides to take this on. Oh yeah.... did I mention that running sound means no running for cones?
