To be in street touring your tires need to meet the same requirements as the street classes. Which is 200. 140 tread wear rating will put you in street prepared I believe.

Almost new Cobra Suzuka racing seat for sale! I bought it new this August. FIA approved, HANS compatible. Used for 2 autocross events. I’m 5’11” 165lbs and have a 34” waist and I fit comfortably snug. Not squished kinda feeling but secure feeling. This is a beautiful seat and the only reason I’m selling is because I have another person wanting to codrive my car and he doesn’t fit quite as well as I do. So I’m hoping to sell this seat and get the almost exact same one except the wider “GT” version. I paid $1300 for it and looking for $1100 obo if someone is interested. Are there any practice days planned before and during season?
Hopefully the lscc will be able to fit some days in with some of our fort macleod events. I personally really enjoyed racing with both clubs in one weekend and had lots of time to play with my settings during the lscc event. I have mixed thoughts about the schools being at calgary. I agree with Reijo that they can really benefit those who attend. We put 48 runs on my car during last years school. Worth every penny. But with yyc being a time sensitive lot I think we should try to benefit more drivers. Also to consider is the layout of yyc is “the closest” we get to packwood and lincoln (not the pavement unfortunetly) so it might not hurt to have a school there again. Just my 2 cents. I’m just pumped to see yyc on the schedule for now. Wish we had more 2 day fort macleod events on the schedule.

I’ve used DYK lots for the past couple years. Enough that they always remember me. So far so good. Costs for me are half instead of me driving 5hrs one way to sweet grass. Plus you don’t have to deal with crossing the border. Montana Mailbox, the warehousing company they use in sweet grass, has also given me great customer service. I needed NAFTA forms out of a package they had for me and they had no issue getting them out, scanning and emailing them to me at no charge. I meet DYK posts drivers in Red Deer to pick up my packages since they only have warehouses in Calgary and Edmonton. Great customer service, huge time saver and I recommend giving them a try to anyone who ships stuff to the border. I have run into company’s not selling certain parts to us in Canada so I ship it to the border and DYK has been a good solution for me to get them up here.

I was approached a few years back about hosting an autocross at the Stettler airport. It's very similar to Fort Macleod but I think Stettler's paved parking area is bigger. It's kind of a mirror image of Fort Macleod other than the taxi lane is shorter going to the runway. Never thought much about it until now because its a bit of a drive for most. 2hrs from Calgary. The parking area might even be bigger than the westerner lot. Pavement is in good shape if I remember correctly. The County of Stettler is motivated to rent it out according to Stettler's car club. The Stettler Car Club hosts a big weekend drag race event every july and have for about 10 years now. They even used to do Tuesday night drags once a month but not sure if that's still a thing. If you guys want to drive up here for a weekend or two a year to race let me know. My boss is a higher up in Stettler's club so if there is interest in this venue let me know and I will get you guys some contact information. I will also go walk around the airport to make sure its what i remember it to be.

I don't want to be a naysayer, but is he sure a mod car is the way he wants to go? Mod cars come with a lot of overhead which would be doubly hard for him to manage since he's in a wheelchair -- for example, how would be get out of his car after loading it onto its trailer? I'm sure he could figure out a way, but does he really want to put up with that hassle versus just autocrossing his street car?
His street car is a big van with a wheel chair lift. He also has a fancy lift to pick him up out of his chair and put him in vehicles that don't have a lift. He was looking at a cooper mini but would still have to trailer it. The lift and his chair wont fit in a car so he would be stuck in it all day. He has a trailer for his side by side already that would work good for a formula 500 car as well. Being open from the top will make it easy to get him in and out with his lift. Pick him up and drop him in threw the top. He will have a support crew of good friends to help him with getting the car ready and loading/unloading it. The cvt and snowmobile engine are familiar grounds for him, fairly cheap to maintain and easy to drive considering his condition. They are cool little cars and just seem like a good fit for the experience he wants. Now we just need to find one in his price range thats reasonably close. I'm going to get harnesses for my car and hopefully bring him out for some ride alongs at one of our september events.

Thanks for all the info guys! Greatly appreciated! The f mod route definitely seems like the best option cost and size wise. He's not looking to be competitive, he's just happy to be able to drive again, so pretty much a solid chassis is all he would need. He works at our local powersports store so he has good access to rotax engine parts and clutches. And good mechanics that will help build it and keep it running. It will be a year or so before we get him set up and racing but at least we know what needs to be done. Thanks again!

Unfortunately in Canada ASN has ruled that karts are not allowed in solo ... unlike the SCCA.

I didn't realize that. What about the hand controls? Are they legal? He might want to build something else because he seems to really want to do autocross.

My friend Landon had a unfortunate crash on his dirt bike that left him a quadriplegic several years back. After a crazy amount of determination and hard work he has been able to get his drivers licence back and has been driving with hand controls for over a year now. He was going to setup a mustang to drive but was unable to get in and out easily. He has now acquired a go kart and wants to race it with us when he gets it setup for hand controls(probably next year). He also drives a hand control side by side around our local motocross track. I have seen articles of a guy down in the states that races autocross in a wrx with hand controls and does quite well with it. I have quickly browsed through the rules and don't really see anything on hand controls. When Landon gets his kart setup and ready to go can he come race with us? He will be more than willing to work where he can(registration or grid maybe).

Thanks Jared for doing the course and everyone that helped out today! Had a pretty good battle between Shannon, Brock and myself in the CAM classes! Shannon was able to pull it off!
