I agree converse is a good, inexpensive route to go.
The sole is thin enough to deliver feedback & its comfy for use all day. Even powerlifters & strongmen use them for the same reason 3

Thanks guys.
I'm now better equipped to make a decision. Time to do some thinking 5

Thanks for the input guys.
So If I were to run a piggy back (JB4 for example), is it acceptable if i switch to OEM tune for the event? This means all parameters would be OEM during the race event. Would Tech Officials find this acceptable? 6
Technical Talk / Interpretation of ST Class Rule« on: March 27, 2018, 09:34:04 AM »
Riejo & I exchanged a few messages on this topic & we decided to post this on the forum to see how others would interpret the rules. This is specific to ECU tuning for ST classing. For those that aren't aware, 2018 rules now allow boost changes. I've pasted the rules below, & my question will follow at the end.
The engine management system parameters and operation of internal combustion engines may be modified only via the methods listed below. Any OE OBD2 or newer communications port functionally must remain. The Check Engine Light (CEL) or Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) may be disabled via software. Only sensors equipped from the manufacturer may be used for engine management. Data acquisition modifications to the wiring and PCM/ECU are permitted. 1. For all model years, the following allowances apply:
Does "without restriction" refer to parameters that may be adjusted or does it refer to the means/method of making the changes (ie. piggyback, flash tune etc).......Or does it refer to Both parameter & method 7

Just curious, What happens if we reg for April 15 & weather does not allow us to host an event. Does that fee get refunded or do we have a credit which we can use toward the next event?

Technical Talk / Re: 2018 STH Class?« on: March 12, 2018, 02:57:16 PM »
From what I've read, boost level increase in STH is allowed.
I got this from fastrack but I've already read on a few other forums that increased boost due to tune is allowed but Intercooler & turbo needs to remain stock 9

I read that too & I dont get it.
By STU rules I cant run a tune. Infact, if i ran a tune, I'd go into modified class. However i thought STH was being reintroduced to allow hot hatches to run tunes but no go full out with a modified build spec. I'm so confused 10

Hey Guys,
I've been looking for definitive ruling that STH has officially been reintroduced but I cant seem to find anything on fastrack. That said, I found the following link on SCCA that speaks of Solo National dates & STH being run on Thur/Fri. https://www.scca.com/articles/2008984-2018-tire-rack-solo-nationals-run-days-announced Can I now consider STH is approved for 2018? I've been wanting to run a tune on my car but I'm hating the idea of removing it each time i come to the track. 11

Where there's a will there's way!I'm not entirely familiar with working in Casinos & restrictions on income from these jobs but it sounds like its frowned upon or forbidden. Is employment at these casino's considered illegal for the average citizen? 14
Technical Talk / Re: E Modified Jeep article« on: January 11, 2018, 04:28:20 PM »I've been tossing around the idea of changing classes myself. I find it tough to jump into the ring with something that someone else built as it may not comply with all the rules. Seriously considering this guy though....Do it Duane...Then you can roll up with a 2JZ swapped E30 I mean.....if its so modified already, why not just swap the motor & go balls to the wall 15

I've been having conversations with a family member/business owner around sponsorships for the sport as well & the items you mentioned above is a small subset of info that is required to successfully convince sponsors to part with their money. The issue I've encountered is it is difficult to show the sponsor the exposure they'd be receiving for the money they're laying out. Reality is almost none of the competitors drive on the streets with the signage/decals so the advertisement is centered around the event itself. However, autocross typically isn't an event that attracts large crowds as you'd see at drift or drag events so these facts make the sponsorship conversation a hard sell for a businessman looking to gain a good level of exposure. Sorry if I took the topic down a different road Tara. I thought maybe we could use this thread to also find ways of either attracting more sponsors or more spectators.....although I don't believe the latter is a possibility |
