STP Class Question

Not sure if this is the place to ask this question but thought that I'd take a shot.  I'm running a stock 16 GT350 except that I have Michelin Cup 2 tires, long tube headers and camber plates installed.  Reading the rules, seems that I may be STP - Street Touring Pony Car (STP).  Did I get it right?

You are correct that the camber plates and headers would move you to a Street Touring class. The Cup 2 tires do not meet the minimum 200 treadwear requirement though.

I (or someone else) could help do some further digging for where the Cup 2s bump you, but for reference if you were on 200TW tires (RE71R, Rival S, RS4, etc) you would be in:

STU if on 285 or less wide tires and 11.0” or less wide wheels.

Or STP as a supplemental catch-all allowing up to 315 width on 11.0” wheels.

Since his cup 2s come OEM, he can use them in regional events as 200 TW equivalent i believe

The 16 GT350 comes with pilot super sport tires and the GT350R comes with the sport cup 2 tires. The sport cup 2 are a 180 rated tire putting you in street prepared.

Agree with Dan. If the Cup 2s were OEM, the car might be eligible for STP, but since they only came on the GT350R, it's off to ASP...

One thing I'll just add is that the stock GT 350's and 350R's have a tough time meeting our sound policy, if you went with cat-less headers you almost certainly won't pass sound unless you had some muffler and/or resonator work done downstream.

Thanks guys.  ASP it is.  And yes, even with high flow cats I have sound challenges.  However, I used some home made tail pipe baffles + steel wool last year to successfully get the noise down.  Seemed to work.
