Need folks to work timing
« on: September 15, 2018, 11:06:23 AM »
Pretty much all of of our regular autocrossers that know how to run timing are in some sort of a street class. We're looking to train up a couple people that regularly attend events in non-street classes.

If someone is interested please let us know.

I'm in street class, but I don't think it would hurt to learn a thing or two about timing.

I'm always stocked on these energy drinks in street class, but I don't think it would hurt to learn a thing or two about timing.

Is timing stuff difficult to learn? Can the training be done online or how do you plan to do that?

Not overly difficult no, training has to be done in person, by shadowing someone experienced.

If the last couple of events are held at YYC, we can start doing some training then because we don't need to have anyone in any particular group since there are no points at stake.

The primary difficulty in timing is dealing with errors (missed or false start/finish trips, missed car numbers).  They aren't common, but they require careful attention to catch them before you end up giving reruns to 20 drivers.
